    Valve and Other PC Publishers Fined by EU Commission

    The issue revolves around the companies "geo-blocking" various games.

    The European Commission has fined Valve and five publishers a combined total of €7.8 million for a breaching of antitrust rules. The other publishers in question include Bandai Namco, Capcom, Focus Home Interactive, Koch Media, and ZeniMax.   • European Commission Demands Valve to Stop Geo-blocking Games in EU, Valve Issues Response


    Early this morning, the European Commission (EC) issued an official "statements of objections" today towards Valve, Bandai Namco, Capcom, Focus Home, Koch Media, and ZeniMax. The EC claims that all of these companies are involved in anti-trust violations by placing geographic restrictions (geo-blocking/geo-locking) on the games that they sell.
