A whole lot more Destiny is coming and it all starts with the Moon.

On October 1, 2019 the Shadowkeep expansion for Destiny 2 will be released. On that same date, the game effectively takes on a whole new life. It will be gone from Battle.net and will now instead be played through Steam. It also marks the first major piece of content released for Destiny 2 since their separation from Activision.

Bungie passed along some unfortunate news today. Both Destiny 2: Shadowkeep and the free-to-play launch of Destiny 2: New Light have been pushed back until October 1. The original release date for both of these was September 17, meaning that the delay is a mere two weeks. Yes, this also means that the Steam release of Destiny 2 has also been pushed back to October 1.

Bungie says that they "didn't make this decision lightly." In fact, they apologize to those who were already taking time off from work or school to play the release...

When Destiny 2: Shadowkeep launches this Fall, Bungie is going to have made a ton of changes to some core mechanics in their space opera shooter. Among those changes will be a fairly drastic overhaul to Eververse and some of the currencies associated with that in-game store.

Bungie finally called Destiny the "M" word for the first time ever.

Bungie said that they were going to talk about the "next chapter of Destiny 2" today and talk they did. They even said that they are going to push Destiny 2 into becoming more of an MMO. It looks like Destiny 2 will be making some significant changes in the months ahead. According to an early leak, or a rumor, or whatever you want to call it, Destiny 2 is making the move to free-to-play. Engadget apparently put their article up well ahead of schedule this morning that details the coming changes.
