Randy Pitchford, Gearbox, and Their Former Lawyer Drop Lawsuits

All parties resolve "misunderstandings" as evidence exonerates Randy Pitchford.

If you need to get up to speed on what is going on here, I suggest you check out the previous update from August where we go over the events of this long legal battle between Gearbox, Randy Pitchford, and Gearbox's former lawyer, Wade Callender. In short, Pitchford and Callender were suing each other over various grievances. Everyone involved came off as incredibly scummy in their own way. Like seriously, there is a lot to take in with all of this from stealing money...

Borderlands 3 Becomes Fastest Selling Title Published by 2K

Sales surpassed 5 million units in first five days.

2K announced this past week that Borderlands 3 sales have surpassed more than 5 million units in its first five days of being on sale. They note that "50% more consumers purchased Borderlands 3 versus sales of its predecessor." They do specify here that they are talking about Borderlands 2 and not Borderlands: The Pre-sequel when talking about the "predecessor" here.

This equates to a few things for 2K. First, this makes Borderlands 3 the fastest-selling game in 2K's history...

Borderlands 3 is Now Available Everywhere

Borderlands 3 is now available worldwide.

For many fans, your patient waiting has come to an end as Borderlands 3 is now available worldwide. The Gearbox developed game is out now for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Epic Games Store. And, of course, here is the usual reminder that it will be more widely released on more open PC platforms after about six months.

Borderlands 3 has been in development for roughly five years. It promises to once again deliver the looter shooter (shlooter) experience that you've kind of come to know and expect...

Take Early Borderlands 3 Reviews with a Grain of Salt

Copies of Borderlands 3 given to only a select few review sites ahead of launch.

Review copies of Borderlands 3 have only been provided to a select few media outlets ahead of the game's launch on Friday, September 13. The game's publisher, 2K, says that this is all due in part to some unspecified "security concerns" over the game.

As Kotaku points out, most review copies are provided to outlets roughly a week or two ahead of the public launch. These review copies can be physical offerings or, as is more common these days, a digital...

Borderlands 3 Launch Trailer - 'Let's Make Some Mayhem'

A launch trailer is out now a few days ahead of the game's release.

Borderlands 3 will be released on September 13, 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Epic Games Store. It will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store for a period of six months until being more widely released on the PC. That is, assuming, plans don't change between now and then.

Developer Gearbox and publisher 2K are saying that this is the return of the original shooter-looter, or "shlooter" if you think "why waste time say lot word." ...

Borderlands 3 PC Pre-load is Back on the Menu for Epic Games Store

    YOLO!

2K Games just announced that everyone who pre-ordered Borderlands 3 through the Epic Games Store, will actually have the ability to pre-load the game just like their console pals. This is quite the turnaround from roughly a month ago when Tim Sweeney said that there wouldn't be any pre-load for the game because "it's complicated."

There is a bit of bad news on this, of course. The pre-load period will begin just two days before the game is set to be released. In addition, this will be the first major test for Epic's so far unproven...

Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford Accused of Contempt in New Court Filing

"All (the Internet) care about is if my next video game is good or not."

On Tuesday, former Gearbox lawyer, Wade Callender, filed a motion in Dallas County district court for contempt and has requested sanctions against Gearbox. The filing allegs "discovery abuse" and a failure to produce various court-ordered documents. This is the latest is a very long back-and-forth legal battle between Callender and Gearbox that started back in late 2018.

In November 2018, Gearbox sued Callender. The company says that Callender had borrowed...

No Pre-loads for Borderlands 3 on Epic Games Store

    Just another launcher.

Epic's Tim Sweeney says that there will be no pre-loads for Borderlands 3 on the PC through the Epic Games Store. If you have purchased the game, you will need to wait until the game is released before you can even download it. Those on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will not have this problem.

Those of you who have somewhat decent Internet connections probably won't have to worry about waiting for too long, provided the download servers hold up. Those of you who typically need a couple of days to a week to download a modern...

No Cross-platform Play for Borderlands 3 at Launch

Randy Pitchford finally shot that rumor down.

A few days back, the Borderlands 3 Twitter promised an upcoming "celebration of togetherness." Many took that little teaser to mean that Gearbox was going to announce that Borderlands 3 would ship with cross-platform play support.

Well, it doesn't have cross-platform support. Today's "celebration" was for something that really wasn't even close to cross-platform support. Yesterday, Randy Pitchford finally shot those rumors down but not before letting them simmer and stew for a...

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey Gameplay Footage and Epic Exclusive Details

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick says exclusives "will be rare."

Another Take-Two title is confirmed to be a timed exclusive to the Epic Games Store. Previously, the Take-Two Private Division label published title, The Outer Worlds, is a one year timed exclusive to the Epic Games Store. Yes, it's also out on the same day to the Microsoft Store because Obsidian is now owned by MS and there are many business issues at work. After that point, it will be sold on Steam and other digital storefronts.

Another Take-Two published title that goes...

David Eddings Details Abuse from Randy Pitchford

Accusations include a wet-willy and aggressive shoving.

One week ago, the dispute between Gearbox's Randy Pitchford and former Gearbox employee David Eddings went public in a hurry. It seemed as though this was largely over a pay dispute between the two parties but, as with most things involving Randy Pitchford, there's a bit more to it than that.

Eddings has claimed, on more than one occasion now, that Randy Pitchford physically assaulted him. These allegations really came to light a few days ago when Eddings posted the following series of tweets....

This is Why Claptrap has a New Voice Actor in Borderlands 3

David Eddings says Gearbox just didn't want to pay him.

If you've seen any promotional material for Borderlands 3 in the past couple of weeks, you may have noticed that Claptrap sounds quite a bit different from what you're used to. This is because David Eddings, the voice behind the robot in all of the previous games has been replaced by Jim Foronda.

The reason? Money. Specifically, the claim from Eddings that Gearbox didn't want to pay Eddings for his work in Borderlands 3.

Yesterday on Twitter, a fan asked Eddings if he was still...

  • Borderlands 3 Dated for September 13, 2019 - Confirmed Six Month Exclusive to Epic Games Store

Borderlands 3 will officially be released on September 13, 2019 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Epic Games Store for PC. In case you missed the obvious "hints" dropped earlier this week, or were in denial as I repeatedly saw from people on other sites, the PC release is indeed a six month timed exclusive on the Epic Game Store before it will hit other PC storefronts like Steam.

However, the point of this isn't to talk about how completely bullshit exclusives are, especially when it comes to the PC market, but we are instead here to...

  • Now Deleted Borderlands 3 Tweets Suggest September 13 Release on Epic Store (Updated)

Earlier today, the official Borderlands 3 Twitter account put up some now deleted tweets. Normally this wouldn't be a "thing" to care about, but these particular tweets included some previously unknown information about the release of Borderlands 3.

Among the information revealed is the potential release date for the game. The date looks to be September 13, 2019. In addition, it seems as though pre-orders for the game will get access to the Gold Weapon Skins Pack, a similar pre-order bonus to the one offered with the release of Borderlands...
