DayZ Getting Global Edit Because of Australia

Bohemia wants to have just one version of the game.

This past week, the zombie survival game DayZ was banned in Australia both at retail stores and then later from digital stores. The game was refused classification because it would "depict, express or otherwise deal with matters of sex, drug misuse or addiction, crime, cruelty, violence or revolting or abhorrent phenomena in such a way that they offend against the standards of morality, decency, and propriety."

The game has characters using morphine to help treat injuries. They player can also restore some...

Microsoft Announces Xbox Branded Body Wash from Makers of Axe

    Smell like a Gamer.

Microsoft announced a new partnership today with the makers of the Axe body spray, Unilever. Together, these two companies will bring to the world Xbox branded body spray, shower gel, and deodorant. It's green. It's very green. The actual lineup of products is called "Xbox Lynx" and, unfortunately for all of you already throwing money at your screens, these products will be exclusive to Australia.

If Lynx sounds familiar to you, that would be because it's the name given to Axe in markets that aren't the US. Microsoft wants gamers to "power...

We Happy Few Approved for Release in Australia

Australia is known for a number of things like extremely hot weather and the Outback (Steakhouse and otherwise). It's also known to be really ass backwards when it comes to rating games even after they adopted the R18+ rating a few years back.

Case in point, the Australian Classification Review Board initially denied a classification to We Happy Few. Compulsion Games filed an appeal with the board and it looks like they changed their mind, granting the game an R18+ rating in the land down under.
Hi all, After considering our appeal to get We Happy Few reviewed for classification, the Australian Classification Review Board has decided to allow the release of We Happy

Large Group of Australian Pokemon Go Players Had Eggs Thrown at Them

The once fairly peaceful Australian suburb of Rhodes found itself the focus of a large group of regular Pokemon Go players searching for rare and elusive Pokemon to add to their collection. It seems as though the area was a prime spot to find some of the more rare creatures and thus attracted the attention of hundreds, even thousands of would-be Trainers to areas near to high-density residential housing on a nightly basis.

It seems as though the noise generated by the nightly crowds was enough to send some residents beyond the tipping point, opting to throw eggs and waterbombs at the crowd.

    2K Australia Shut Down

2K Australia is closing down. First noted by a number of sources and then directly by 2K themselves, the studio will be completely shuttered soon.

2K Australia is the studio behind Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. They also had a hand in developing games like the BioShock franchise, SWAT 4, and Tribes: Vengeance to name a few. The reported reason for the closure was due to the high cost of operating out of Australia. A move to Melbourne was tentatively planned for the studio, but this news caused many staff to leave. This may have also been a contributing factor in the studio's closure. 2K's official statement on the matter ...

Australia Recalls Saints Row IV: Re-Elected

It looks like that Saints Row IV: Re-Elected for the PlayStation 4 has been recalled in Australia. It has been pulled from store shelves and all customers that purchased the game are urged to return the game for a full refund.
Unfortunately over the weekend, it has come to light that the PlayStation 4 retail release of Saints Row IV: Re-Elected has a serious manufacturing issue and a nationwide recall is now underway in Australia. A manufacturing issue has caused an incorrectly classified version of Saints Row IV: Re-Elected for our territory to be released. This strictly affects PlayStation 4 retail versions. All customers who have purchased the
