    Bubsy 4D Announced

    Ok, but why?

Bubsy, the bobcat that Accolade tried really hard to turn into a mascot of sorts, is back. In what will technically be his 7th mainline outing (excluding Bubsy in: The Purrfect Collection), Bubsy 4D will again be like Bubsy's most notorious outing, Bubsy 3D, and will be a 3D platformer.

Bubsy 4D is in development from Fabraz and will be published by Atari for the Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows.

PONG is Officially an RPG Now

    PONG Quest is out now.

Atari's latest RPG is one that is based off of a game franchise that you would think doesn't lend itself very well to becoming an RPG. That is unless of course you read our first post about this game back when it was initially announced. Today marks the release of PONG Quest, a new RPG where you assume the role of a paddle and make your way through dungeons.

Atari says that there is a Quest mode that allows players to experience a "single-player...

    PONG is Becoming an RPG

    Yes, that Pong.

Atari announced PONG Quest, a new role-playing game that is based off of the classic PONG. If you are wondering just how they can make an RPG out of PONG, you certainly aren't alone. I know what you're thinking. You're thinking that this is an April Fools joke, right? I thought so too! I really did. And then I kept reading the press release I was sent. Then I saw the trailer reveal (seen below) and the key art in the press kit. It was only then, after I looked at everything,...

GDC Revokes Pioneer Award from Nolan Bushnell Following Public Outcry

Every year, the Game Developers Choice Awards recognizes people that have had a significant influence in the industry for one reason or another. The recognition comes in the form of the Pioneer Award and is given to those that have "developed a breakthrough technology, game concept, or gameplay design at a crucial juncture in video game history." This year, the award was to be given to Atari co-founder Nolan Bushnell. However, once this news broke, GDC was flooded with concerns and a fair bit of...

  • "Haunted" and "House" Focus of Trademark Legal Battle Between Atari and Hazy Dreams of Infinity

Could we maybe go like one damn week in 2016 without having to waste time on these idiotic trademark legal battles? This time it's Atari and Hazy Dreams of Infinity who are about to go toe to toe at an upcoming United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) hearing (February 26). All of it will be over the words "Haunted" and "House."

Atari apparently holds a trademark for those words due to some old Haunted House games, the first of which seems to have come out in the...

New Asteroids Game is a Sandbox Survival Game

    Remember Asteroids?

Yeah, that game right there. It's an iconic game from the late 70's. It's difficult not to know what Asteroids is. Now take that, but turn it into a sandbox survival game. That's precisely what Atari is doing with Asteroids: Outpost. According to the studio, the game will take place on a giant asteroid. Players will search out resources, craft their gear, and build a base. Players will also have to defend that base from other players. W...

The Father of Video Games, Ralph Baer, Passed Away at the Age of 92

Ralph Baer, the person that is hailed as the father of video games, has passed away at the age of 92.

Baer is credited with creating the very first video game console. It was originally called the Brown Box but was later licensed and sold by Magnavox in 1972 as the Magnavox Odyssey. The success of the Odyssey paved the road for competition from other companies, such as Atari. Baer's invention led to arcade machines, Pong, and eventually the consoles and games we have today. ...
