Epic vs. Apple Verdict is a Huge Win for Apple

Epic really came away from this one empty-handed.

The judge in the Epic vs. Apple lawsuit has finally issued a ruling. Despite what a number of outlets seem to be saying, today's ruling really isn't a win for Epic Games. In fact, it's more of a win for Apple when you take everything into account.

In short, Epic lost on all but one count. Epic had wanted the judge to say that Apple was a monopoly, forcing it to lower its fees to below the industry standard 30% cut. Neither...

Judge Rules Valve Must Hand Over Subpoenaed Data in Apple vs Epic Case

Valve is pulled into this legal battle whether it wanted to be or not.

California judge Thomas Hixon says that Valve must comply with a subpoena from Apple in their legal fight with Epic Games. Apple Terminates Epic Games Developer Account

This is not a termination of accounts related to Unreal Engine devs.

Today, Apple followed through with part of their threat that they would terminate Epic Games' developer account. This is not the same as their threat to terminate the accounts of all Unreal Engine developers. That specific case was shot down in court earlier this week. However, that ruling still left the door open for Apple to terminate the account specifically related to Epic Games, the one used by Fortnite.

  • In First Hearing, Apple Wins Right to Remove Fortnite from Store but Not Unreal Engine

The first battle in a long war has reached its conclusion.

This past week, Epic had filed for a temporary restraining order in order to prevent Apple from terminating all Epic developer accounts. This ban against Unreal Engine would have effectively barred all Unreal Engine developers...

Epic is Suing Apple After Fortnite was Kicked from the App Store

Yo, where we dropping... a lawsuit?

Apple has removed Epic Games' Fortnite from the App Store after the studio implemented its own in-app payment system. This payment system bypasses Apple's payment system and thus avoids Apple 30% tax on purchases made.

This is, as they say in the biz, a big no-no.

Apple immediately responded by kicking Fortnite off of the App Store. Epic Games also implemented the same payment bypassing option into the Android version of...
