Tim Sweeney is throwing himself a little pity party.

Over on the wonderful social media platform known as Twitter, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeny revealed that Apple has rejected their request to add Fortnite back on to the App Store. Specifically, Apple has refused the request to reinstate Epic's developer account that was terminated back in August 2020 right as the legal fight was heating up.

    Apple is Counter-Suing Epic Games

    Get your popcorn ready.

On Tuesday, Apple filed a countersuit against Epic Games, accusing them of financial damages due to the bypassing of the 30% commissions that Apple takes from app developers. According to the court filing (PDF) Apple is accusing Epic of engaging in "self-help and subterfuge." They go on to say that "Epic sent a Trojan horse to the App Store," that being an update to Fortnite that allowed Epic "to bypass Apple's app review process and...

Apple Terminates Epic Games Developer Account

This is not a termination of accounts related to Unreal Engine devs.

Today, Apple followed through with part of their threat that they would terminate Epic Games' developer account. This is not the same as their threat to terminate the accounts of all Unreal Engine developers. That specific case was shot down in court earlier this week. However, that ruling still left the door open for Apple to terminate the account specifically related to Epic Games, the one used by Fortnite.

Epic is Suing Apple After Fortnite was Kicked from the App Store

Yo, where we dropping... a lawsuit?

Apple has removed Epic Games' Fortnite from the App Store after the studio implemented its own in-app payment system. This payment system bypasses Apple's payment system and thus avoids Apple 30% tax on purchases made.

This is, as they say in the biz, a big no-no.

Apple immediately responded by kicking Fortnite off of the App Store. Epic Games also implemented the same payment bypassing option into the Android version of...
