Classic 90s FPS has a new name.

It entered into Early Access a little while back and it plans to exit Early Access on Thursday, August 15. On that date, the game will toss round after round on the PC, with console releases on the Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One coming later.

The game is being developed by Voidpoint and published by 3D Realms and 1C Entertainment. Only, there's just one problem. It won't be called Ion Maiden. As you can probably guess, a band...

Here is Gearbox's individual statement on the matter.
Gearbox Software has voluntarily ended its litigation against Interceptor Entertainment and 3D Realms, and wishes to keep the terms of its settlement confidential except to confirm that Gearbox Software is the full and rightful owner of the Duke Nukem franchise. Gearbox Software appreciates the sentiments from Interceptor

  • 3D Realms and Interceptor Announce Bombshell a Top-Down Action-RPG That Totally Isn't Duke Nukem

Hey, remember when Gearbox totally sued 3D Realms and Interceptor over the unauthorized use of the Duke Nukem IP? Remember how that was because 3D Realms and Interceptor announced Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction?

And do you remember how it was going to be a top-down action-RPG staring the title character? Well, it seems as though the two studios realized that using Duke Nukem was a bad idea and have tonight announced Bombshell, a new top-down action-RPG coming from 3D Realms and Interceptor.

  • 3D Realms Doesn't Know When to Call it Quits and Claims It Still Owns Duke Nukem

In response to the lawsuit made against the company by Gearbox Software, 3D Realms claims that it still has the right to complete and sell a game called Duke Nukem Survivor.

And so 3D Realms does not go quietly into that gentle night, but kicking and screaming like a little brat. Not bad for a company that sat around doing nothi...
