Epic has lost a challenge made to a 2021 ruling that favored Apple.

A new report by Bloomberg sheds light on the latest defeat Epic Games has suffered in court in their legal battle against Apple. On Monday morning, Apple won an appeals court ruling that upholds its App Store's policies against an antitrust challenges brought about by Epic Games.

Google is now fighting back against Epic Games as part of the ongoing antitrust litigation between the two companies. A new countersuit was filed by Google against Epic Games and focuses on something called Project Liberty. Project Liberty is the name given to the 2020 plan from Epic that had them adding an alternate payment method to the Android and iOS versions of Fortnite.

Today, Apple followed through with part of their threat that they would terminate Epic Games' developer account. This is not the same as their threat to terminate the accounts of all Unreal Engine developers. That specific case was shot down in court earlier this week.
