There's a difference between being "cheap" and having to deal with a $10 price increase over what the cost of PC games have been for years now.

      Things change.

I also forgot people aren't very susceptible to change.

I remember paying $40 for playstation games, now its up to what? $60?

      Outraged at $10? Really? lol...

Lawl, yea everyone was outraged post-no dedi servers announcement, but before hand everyone was like on the edge of their seats waiting for the game. And don't pretend for one second we weren't.
You're right, but my point was meant to counter your initial argument that people shouldn't expect BC to be the savior game because, similar to MW2, it has received a lot of hype.

Unlike MW2, the developers of Bad Company 2 have done a much better job at informing the PC community about changes and features specific to their game - something that IW didn't do until a month before the game, where they announced the removal of features.

MW2 is fun, no doubt about it - though fun does not mean balanced, nor does it mean that the game will survive more than half a year. Bad Company 2 will offer the PC community more of what the community wants, a PC game. Yes, the game originated from a console, but so have many others (including the extremely successful CoD4) and the dev team has also designed the game with the PC in mind in some aspects - the MW2 team, on the other hand, did not.

More outraged at the fact that the price was raised for absolutely no particular reason what so ever. And don't say they used that money to develop IW.net, lol. It's just a copy paste of Xbox Live's code.

That's exactly the reason the price was raised $10. The whole PC version of the game is exactly like the consoles, so why not the price also? The whole reason IW.net was made, was so that there was match making in the PC vers, same as the console. Only seemed fair to make the price the same as well, after all your buying the same product, just for a different platform.

Console games are more expensive because they have to pay a fee to Microsoft/Sony/What have you in addition to everything that goes into the PC price. Their increased price has nothing to do with the coding involved.

I never said it did lawl.

I'm just saying from they're standpoint, in trying to make the games as similar as possible, they made the prices similar.

Meh, I don't really see how you prove that it's worth the extra $10, so I apologize if I'm just not seeing it. If I'm forced to pay extra to sell a customer a good, I will charge them more to increase my profit margine - if I'm not forced to pay that, there's no reason for me to increase the price (however, IW felt the need to do so). There's no legitimate reason for why the PC community had to pay more than the standard $50, especially considering they received fewer features than previous titles.

Anyways, I just felt the need to be a smart*** :p

I never said my point was a legitimate reason as to why IW increased the price. I'm just looking at it from a greedy company that doesn't really care what they're customers think, because they're going to buy the game anyways, standpoint.

Dark' before you go on, you might want to get your facts straight. The only reason it's $60 on the PC and NOT the typical $50 is because of Bobby Kotick and Activision.

                          http://www.destructoid.com/kotick-i-...d-143049.phtml

Kotick's response came after Mike Griffith answered an anylyst question on price points: "And then on the second question, Tony, on the pricing, we’ve had for all of our launch titles in the back half of this year, some of which contain peripherals, as you point out, very strong retailer acceptance and support for all parts of our plan, including our merchandising plans, our marketing programs, and our price points."

To which Kotick added: "And Tony, you know if it was left to me, I would raise the prices even further."
This isn't about placing the PC games "in line" with anything. It's about one man running a company using greed as the sole motivator. So no, complaining about a $10 price increase for no reason other than pure greed is not a stupid thing to complain about. It's BS that this game has to buck the trend for absolutely no reason. $10 in this economy is nothing to sneeze at, job or no job.

It's also the reason why it's BS that DLC is already planned on having a cost associated with it on the PC while most other games do NOT have a fee for PC DLC when released across multiple platforms.

Theres a difference between fixing and improving. If I get a better graphics card for my computer it doesnt mean I'm fixing my computer cus it isn't broken. I'm improving my computer to make my gaming experience a better one. Same goes for games. I mean I really hope you're not suggesting that games have reached the perfect level of entertainment and that we cant possibly improve games from now on cus it just doesn't get any better than the CoD4 mp?

60$ for the game? That's cheap. The average price for the PC version is around 80$ in Denmark. And for consoles? On the Xbox they range from 389 DKK to 533 DKK (77$ to 106$) with a typical price around 500 DKK (100$).

But the price bumb up is also in effect in Denmark. Way back when I bought BF2 I only payed 300 DKK (60$). Sick prices if you ask me.

Same goes for Steam in europe. They think that 1$ = 1€ which is absolyte BS.

                              In the real world 1€ = 1,48$.

So imagine having to multiply all prices in steam with 1,48 and you have the european prices. I saved 10$ by going to a store and buy a psyical copy of MW rather than just buying it on steam. (400 DKK vs. 450 DKK)

I believe I made the greed point also.

And I'll sneeze at $10 if I want to. $10 is nothing, its not going to break bank.

Oh and also, I'll go back to my other point of, THINGS CHANGE, and instead everyone being little bitches about it, accept it. If everyone was so outraged by the $10 price increase and this greedy Mr.Kotick, why has the game sold millions? Hmm. If everyone was going to do what they said they were going to do, by not buying the game, and made a stand against this greedy Mr.Kotick, we might not be having this discussion. And don't tell me nothing would have happened, regardless of whether the consoles version of the game sold, if the PC version was indeed boycotted, something would have happened. But no one boycotted, and that sent a message not only to IW and Activision, but to every gaming studio, even though we say we're going to boycott, we're not, so they have nothing to worry about.
