    Re: From the Dark Side...

I recently had an opportunity to talk to one of the most controversial people you'd probably ever meet in this community. One of the biggest names in cheating today, Maz. One misconception people may have is that he's a big bad hacker that wants to destroy the community...
Oh, Maz is such a rebel! He is just the kind of l33t h4x0r I want to have my babies!

Honestly, I think this is a case of someone playing up his friend a little too much. "Most controversial?" "Biggest names in cheating?" Want to hear a secret? I've never heard of this guy, and from what the intro contains, I'm very unimpressed.
    :|:

The interview is an interesting read insofar as it reveals a hacker to be a type of person other than the reclusive geek that the word connotes. Just that first paragraph, however, was enough to make me not want to read the rest because, contrary to what is written, this man is incredibly unimportant, anything but controversial, and anyone who actually cares who he is should find a better hobby quick. That being said, my comments should not be taken as insult so much as they are fact. It's a video game. There are no important or controversial video game players. I'm so sorry, but they just don't exist. Now, perhaps if this Maz ate babies while playing video games...

In short, people are blowing this out of proportion. He's not that great and he's not the devil. He's just him. Sure, it's a slightly entertaining read, but it is not an assault on someone's way of life (so many seem to consider Battlefield a way of life). Calm down and enjoy the interview for what it is. No one is endorsing anything and no one is forcing anyone to believe anything.

I'm surprised myself that people are upset about all of this. I mean, really, you knew people like him existed. It shouldn't come as a shock to you that they exist on a coordinated level.

...this is a simple case of, " We hack, we hack games we don't like. What are you gunna' do to stop us!? Nothing!? Then shut up and play... "

If anything this insight to their mindset should be a boost to the communities moral. If you know you cannot stop them, you lack the knowledge and abbility to join them, why not just play the game you enjoy playing and leave it at that?

Heck. Hackers have nothing going for them if you don't give them two things:

      1. Ranks

      2. Feedback

      ...just my little .02

How bout this? WE have a match. It can be one on one or you bring your cheater boys and ill bring my men. We will fight you legit, and you can use your hacks. If we win, then you take down your site, and stop playing vid games forever. If you win, you can talk all the **** you want, and say you PWNED us. HA. That about sums up cheating..

Maz's site is nothing more than public cheats he labels as his own. The kid has no coding abilities at all. He takes all his ideas, ie his MIST download system, from BG which has been around since 2000. I am not condoning cheating, but how Maz has become such a celebrity in bf2 land shocks me when he is nothing more than a thief and not a very good one at that.

How about you? You're all concerned about hackers because they interfere in your 24/7 gaming experience

Some people might say "oh, its just a game" and "oh he is a nobody"; but some of us dont game 24/7 and like to enjoy that leisure time we have after a 12 hour shift. I play the game as a stress relief and get joy out of it at the same time; now that little time I have to play I would like to play it without having to watch some guy level an entire squad in one clip.
Now I don't 24/7 game like I used to when I was younger and would sit there playing Ultima Online up until the crack of dawn; but I would like to enjoy that small leisure time I have and not be interrupted by a hacker.
The cheaters/hackers will most likely always be around in abundance unless it's pay per month game like WOW; where you would stress losing your account over cheating.
It's hard to argue some sense into some of these guys because they all hide behind the electronic wall and that is really the only confrontation they have had; now if it were in real person than they probably would break down and admit to their wrong doings.

How do we know GameWizard doesn't hack since he is apparently great friends with this guy? Hackers and the people who create these hacks need to go kill themselves with a rusty grapefruit spoon...

Though that interview didn't "clear up many questions and misconceptions" rather it strengthened my old opinions. :)

Loving Maz's double standard approach too  (no blizzard games etc.)

Anything to earn a quick (illegal - as I'm sure he's not endorsed to make cash off his cheats, which he does) buck. But nice conversational skills... sure he could sell icecubes to eskimos... that is a skill too.

If there was any doubt that video gamers are the biggest group of geeks ever, the responses in this thread lays them to rest. It's a video game. Calm down.

I think it was a great and harmless article. I feel Game Wizard simply wanted to show an eyes view from the devil, and it was cool.

Hackers will always exsist, as long as something is made that can be violated, or exploited, you can guarantee there will be someone there to violate it.

                              Great article GameWizard.....

                                Hi,

I've tried to stay out of this one...but I still dont get it, why was the article printed exactly? The only argument I can clearly make out in its defence is the 'seeing both sides' argument, but to be honest I don't think we really are. This guy is hardly as 'talented' as some of the coders out there and seems to spend the majority of the interview talking about his brush with fame (in his own mind) by being approached by clans and tournament moderators. It's not inciteful, it serves no real purpose, and although I don't feel as hostile to this guy as some others on here I really can't see any justification for its inclusion on this site, is it just an admin hooking his friends up or attempting credibility by doing something a little risque?

Incidentally GameWizard 'I'm in awe, someone in this community actually has a brain!', Im quite offended by your arguments so far, and insulting you client really isn't a very clever move. Your 17 kid, sometimes you can be wrong

Anyhow, not wanting to flame anybody or anything.
