    From the Dark Side...

A bit of a rare oddity and a treat for the community today. I had the chance to talk to one of the biggest names in the Battlefield 2 cheating community, Maz. He has agreed to talk to us to clear up a lot of misconceptions and questions people have asked time and time again, here's a snippet:
Can you comment on the latest video that was displayed recently which showcased some sort of "mega hack" which allowed for basically any changes to be made without any threat from Punkbuster?

If you mean the 'godfrack' hack, then yes I can. It is a single player mode hack. While you may believe it was not, because of the bots having real names, I can assure you it is fake. Most things in the video (Such as the rapid anti tank gun with unlimted ammo are actually just the animation cycling over and over again.) No actual bullets are fired. Due to the fact that this is a server based game (as in, multiple clients connect to a host) there is only certain aspects that can be altered, and that has to do with interpreting the information that is sent to you. You have no effect over information being sent, as the server has error checks.

Click here to read the full interview
Not something you'll see everyday, having an infamous cheater apear here and attempt to help the community understand the reality of the situation.

I know not all hackers are bad guys (in real life) but in the gaming world they are. Even if this Hack was actually in MP, dont they stop to think wow im being a complete ASS killing these people with Magic knives and auto Sniper rifles? He says he LoL at stat padders since they're not having fun but is it fun to him/them to take day's/weeks/months or however long it takes to create a hack? and use it, knowing that so many people hate what he's doing?

To be FRANK I would not give these guys the time of day and by publishing this interview we have collectively boosted his already inflated ego of spoiling a game he does not like.

These peeps are selfish as they are only interested in whats in it for them and gaining an advantage - said tooooo many times before for all games.

I would not even entertain these chaps or give them the publicity and profile they crave.

      GET RID!!

EDIT: Instead of creating HACKS why not channel that energy in supplying PB with the holes and fixes??????

Correct me if I'm wrong, but no where does it actually specify who he really is, and where he is from. If anything, I'm not advertising anything directly. You don't see any glorification or links posted to hacks.

You are quite right Sir, however, how many times shall this individual pass on the link to this interview as a glowing report of his/her skills.

In Addition, how many of the community shall have the curiosity stirred to look for, and if found, download, install and use this hack or similiar? We all know how creative and inventive some minds are in finding things.

That's the angle I'm coming from Sir, not by any means a Slur on you/TotalBf2 - I read this article as a glorification of the achiement hence my reasoning for getting rid - my personnal views.

Im glad that you guys posted this. I have to agree with the guy on one point, stat padding is sad, more than anything else. I also believe that cheating is sad too though, I seem to have fun playing this game most when Im in the middle of a learning curve ie. after a patch. If a person was using cheats they would miss out on that. Sad indeed.
As in most things I bet that if the money was right, he wouldnt have any problem working for an anti-cheating company and to me it seems that may be whats needed to get rid of or prevent, as much as possible, cheating. . . . . .Red

                Re: From the Dark Side...

He probably plays both sides of the fence, creating cheats and helping companies to stop cheats. He is like a whore, "just show me the money!"
One thing I don't understand is why he would think it's any more fun to shoot your gun without aiming and getting kills (aimbot) compared to staying in the corner of a map stat padding with your boys. There is no real difference since both cheats ruin the game experience as it was meant to be.

                  What goes around comes around!
I hate these maggots with their twisted versions of morality. They won't hack games THEY like but are willing to screw with mine. They won't hurt tournaments because they think it is not fair!!!!! Screwing with the average working man's free time is OK? I don't get much time to play BF2 and I enjoy it when I can. I paid for it with hard earned money and these maggots think they can ruin my precious time.
I hope his next car accident is nothing minor! I hope he suffers misery on a grand scale! I hope he and the rest of the hacking community don't complain when they get screwed over by someone more twisted than them because it is bound to happen.
Getting one over on honest people is twisted. I have more respect for vermin.
They are criminals and should be judged alongside Child Molesters and drug dealers.

                    Re: From the Dark Side...

Interesting read. I've never used a cheat in multiplayer on any game, but know many people who have, including past clan mates. It's got nothing to do with spoiling peoples games, it's more to do with going out and 'having a laugh'. What they don't realise is that by 'having a laugh' your essentially destroying the game for others. Which imo is extremely selfish.

What i do find interesting however is that PB has never had the proper hardcode. Just think how much more secure games would be if they did. Perhaps companies should start investing in 'hacking' departments, where they try as best as they can to find loop holes in their game, but i guess that shows how much game companies actually care about the longitivity and care for their community. Basically, they don't give a ****.

Thank you TBF for putting this article up.

Shame on everyone, which need cheats to have fun or skill..

lol.. he says he provided blizzard with the cheating tools to protect the game, because he love it..
But with bf2, he don't. This can be definitly just be one reason.. noob and no skill. Otherwise he would do it..

It's so poor to provide a community with cheats and make it possible for every noob to use them.. hehe.. no more comments.. it's just terrible and poor.

                          Re: From the Dark Side...

it really, ****es me off, that this guy wont hack his most favorite game, that he enjoys playing, and even is helping the devs, to help it from being hacked.
Yet hacks other games. (this tells me, or makes it even more clear to me, that the primary reason people hack, is the perception that they are ruining other peoples fun. not because they are intrested in code, or any other blah blah crap excuse)
This makes zero sense. Further showing how twisted people can get, or are.
Other then that comment........i could care about cheating.
Another comment made, was maz said people dont quit because of cheating. I guess he meant majority.
I never BOUGHT counter strike. Because i heard so much about the cheating, i said, why even bother. So i dont even know what counterstrike looks like. And im still glad i never bought it.
Unreal Tournament ..that started to get riddled with cheats. Played that for 3 years....saw it get hacked little by little. Goodbye, I left that game. (And the whole unreal series, btw) Never to buy another unreal game.
So, for me, if cheats become evident...im gone. Lifes to short.

No one ever said hackers were bad guys. You should of asked him what he thought of myg0t those guys have got to be 12 year olds.

Anyway my question to him is, if stat padding is such a lame thing to do, then why isn't hacking? Spending every lasting moment to produce another cheat for a game you do not like, just to have PB put another patch to block it.

Don't get me wrong I agree totally that people deserve this. Especially EA, they deserve to lose everything, for what they are doing with the rescent 2142. If anything EA's listening to the community days are over with, but hacking is always wrong.
Its not fun, its not something anyone should be proud of. I couldn't play a game to hack, wouldn't be fun. Maybe the first 3 minutes of it, but after that winning every round? Knowing that theres people out there who own you, without your hack. Nope I don't think so.

EA deserves something, but its not you messing up a game that everyone likes to play. All though BF2 has became boring as of lately. It isn't fair. If they do deserve anything its for the new game they are spending so much time on, not to sale very many copies. That would be the ultimate lesson for greddy EA. Hacking however ruins it for everyone. I find it lame that people come to you looking for hacks. Its a very good sign of someone having no life, or wanting to be better.

                              Re: From the Dark Side...

If you meant financially on behalf of EA games, then definitely not, if not the oppisite. You see, all the people who cheat and get caught need to go get cdkeys. Its a much higher number than you think. Despite many players saying "Thats it, I quit this game- To many hackers" EA games and other companys knows that people play through the pain. Very very few people quit a game soley because of hacking. Much more get banned and rebuy a key.
The simple reason why almost EVERY new, big game includes 3rd party anti-cheat software, tells me, they realize that hacking/cheats hurt a games sales and reputation. Otherwise why go through the process of including it? So I dont buy that at all.
And, if a few hackers have to buy upwards of 4 cd keys, and possibly another 500 dollar video card, and or another 150 dollar mobo........ well saweet. Buy it up, and hack it up. Enjoy.
