I never BOUGHT counter strike. Because i heard so much about the cheating, i said, why even bother. So i dont even know what counterstrike looks like. And im still glad i never bought it.

As someone who's played CS since its very very early days (beta 1 maybe?) I can assure you that hacking in CS isn't as rampant as many would have you believe. Alot of people who complain about hacking really aren't all that good and just want to feel better about their lack of skill by calling someone else a hacker. Does CS have hackers? Of course, but by no means is it as bad as many believe. Personally, I think you're missing out on an awesome game.

It would be sad if this article made some people, who haven't played BF2, not buy the game because they think hacking is something a good portion of people do. That's really no different than not buying CS or UT or any other FPS because someone said there are hackers.

That ultimatly depends on which servers you go onto Tooky. In the last 6 months Enemydown had to kick out a total of 31 players due to cheating, and thats in a clan league! Hell one entire clan was booted out of it's leagues.

Sorry mate, but cheating does occur in CS and it is rampant. Hell i remember when we had 9 people come onto my local CS server in one day, all with the teleport hack.

One thing i don't understand is this comment;

The point of a forums and a fansite is to raise hard hitting subjects. It's the whole point of debate. Theres no point ignoring it, it occurs in most games. I applaud a leading fan site to even mention 'hacker' on the front page. But to have an interview is a very bold statement to the way this website is run. Plaudits to the administrators, didn't think you had that much balls to post such a 'touchy' subject.

A interview like this was posted on PBF last year, i see no harm in this interview.

The interview was a total glorification of some admin's friend who happens to be a hacker....

Pointless and it will generate interest in hacking activity.

Anyone who's truly interested in fair gameplay couldnt possibly agree with this news thread...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but no where does it actually specify who he really is, and where he is from. If anything, I'm not advertising anything directly. You don't see any glorification or links posted to hacks.

It will still generate interest.

You should be moderating, or posting real news, not interviewing people who are interested damaging the game & community.

I hate these maggots with their twisted versions of morality. They won't hack games THEY like but are willing to screw with mine. They won't hurt tournaments because they think it is not fair!!!!! Screwing with the average working man's free time is OK? I don't get much time to play BF2 and I enjoy it when I can. I paid for it with hard earned money and these maggots think they can ruin my precious time.
I hope his next car accident is nothing minor! I hope he suffers misery on a grand scale! I hope he and the rest of the hacking community don't complain when they get screwed over by someone more twisted than them because it is bound to happen.
Getting one over on honest people is twisted. I have more respect for vermin.
They are criminals and should be judged alongside Child Molesters and drug dealers.

There are so many hacking/cheating sites that even if all the sites went down in one day, the next day there would be 100 more to take there spots.

Cheats dont even matter all u gotta do is be like everybody in the top 100 if u dont wanna use cheats then get a tank every time u spawn and go straight to an easily spawnable flag and start killing before they know theyve spawnd.

Anyone whos been playing online shooters for awhile knows when theres a ranked system like this the real players start around 100 or 150 anyone better then that has about a 95% chance of being a cheat and/or exploiter. ive played with atleast 20 -30 of the top 100 guys and i can honestly say i knew only 1 that i knew didnt cheat or sit and spawn in tanks all day everyday and he was in a attack chopper all day everyday.

Its times like this i wish i was born in in japan about 200 years ago they knew the meaning of honor i say 200 years ago because i been to the japanese servers latley and they ban for mentioning the word cheat, kinda obvious why.

Yah I don't think this is a very good interview and the cheater has a very distorted view of reality and ways of dealing with things.

His ways of justifying his research into cheating for EA not opening up their source code is no better than a child whinning about not getting his candy. I mean these guys know that they try and exploit the system and only later to have a simple program to use for the mass kiddies to use. I'm sure he is very intelligent and was tapping into these games for cheats as a child; but I think his childhood dreams carried a little too far into his future cheating career.

His argument that EA/DICE should give up the source code out is not very good.

But his argument that because their 'corporation?' hides out in the economic craphole of Russia; they can escape the illegal bindings of the game cheating also goes against him. If they open the source code than they can use that to produce their own program which would be illegal and since they are in Russia they cannot be pursued by the justice system.
Obviously this guy has an agenda and they blatently know that it is illegal in some sense what they are doing. He says he will not hack Blizzard games (starcraft, warcraft) and has even helped them out; but these games are two completely different games and BF2 is much more geographically larger, involves many more players and has much more comlex netcode.

To top it off...

So even if they do open the source code; they will still try to exploit it and they will suceed which goes against his first argument.

We do agree on something though and I am glad he laughs and says that stat padders are pathetic and it is funny to watch them waste their lives only to not enjoy the game.

In the end though he is kind of a 'two faced *****' in his ways of justifying things. It may be better for EA/DICE to work with these guys and call on them; but I doubt these guys would want to work with them that much and like he says there will always be peole out there that want to exploit it. They get a computer adrenaline feeling that makes them feel empowered watching their work being used out there; fully knowing that their work to exploit the system only allows some 11 year old to download some simple scripting program to create havoc.
You can take an extreme view of point and say that; this guy is no worse than warlords in Africe handing out AK-47's and cocoa leaves for the kid warriors to chew on. In the sense that the drugs are distorting their view of reality and what is going on.

EA/DICE may want to be in the right hand of the devils side than in the devils path.

Dicitonary.com Bookmark it and add it as an extension to firefox, so whenever you are typing you can type the word in the search box in FF for dictionary.com and check it all in 5 seconds; it helps in the long run and you'll get enjoyment out of it..

As much as they think it is not true, or more accurately, don't want to believe, but what they are doing in these games by cheating/hacking etc WILL affect their real life. Sure they will say "it's just a game" but it is showing where your morality ends and I highly doubt this would change in real life too. You are pushing the boundaries of the games law, how long before you push the boundaries of societies law?

These people are the characters that will fill our newspapers in the future.

I also disagree with this post and think it should be removed, sure it isn't giving links or anything to hacks, you also aren't glorifying hacking/cheating in any way either, BUT, what you are doing is giving a misguided teenager (one can only presume) an ego boost and popularity, even if you think you are not, his mis-guided mind will see it in that way, and so will all his future newspaper article friends will think the same way.
