Is there anyone in the military here? Will your country make walking robots and cease tanks?

Seriously whats with walking robots? I doubt it will ever happen...these guys have been watching too many films. It would be good to have some original futuristic combat ideas once in a while...

Its 136 years in the future, can you imagine in 1870 (136 before now) they could possibly have imagined what we have today? Highly unlikely.

Technology is advancing faster than ever so I wouldnt be surprised.

However, BF 2142 looks complete and utter **** in my opinion, iwas worried they would make some futuristic bollocks

I hear SWG has a really big one called a "Sand Crawler" .

But in my dreams a bi-ped walking robot is sweet, and rolling assualt vehicals are sooo 21st centuary

Lets be REAL honest here. This is simply a BF2 MOD officially sold as a new game.

The annimations for reloading and running are BF2. That screen shot has the same freaking C4 detonator in the guys hand. Listed specs....64 player maps, ranking, unlocks, commander mode.

Its the SAME game for the love of GOD. Dont get me wrong I bought every single BF game and add on so far..........but this is crazy.

this is stupid... they need to fix this game ... or make a battlefield 3 with a new engine. I just want a modern warfar game that plays well... bf2 is redicouls. It is very hard for some noob to just pick it up and play.... and if they did... itd probaly be unpatched. The RETARDS at EA chould learn ALOT from counterstrike source and the steam engine. I wish VALVE had mad the battlefield series... theyd be able to update the game often and automaticly.
S***, i remember startin steam up and being excited to see what changed when it started updating... like once a week by the way.... anyways.... This game looks interesting enough to give it a go. So what if it's a glorified mod. If it's fun, I'll buy it. It costs the same as a tank of gas. Which brings me to the post I quoted above. Man, EA isn't trying to get your cash. Judging by your post, you probably don't have much expendable income given your 2nd grade education. We've all heard enough about steam and valve. I enjoy it as well. However, when you come in here ranting quasi-legibly, you go from making a point to looking like an idiot. I can't imagine what the code would look like if folks like you were writing it...I bet it'd be "redicouls"...

I'm not very keen on sci-fi, so I'll stick to the quasi-realistic games an don't buy this one.... Still, just like one of my Hungarian fellow-BF2 players said, it will be fun to listen to conversations, like "Hey, how did that guy shoot through my quantum-shield with that Ion pistol??? CHEATER!!!CEHATER!!!"

how stupid, no one is actually going to buy this game are they? i think dice did a great job with 1942, vietnam was a good sequel but lacking, bf2 lost its vision and this one, forget it.. maybe they should focus on original ideas and stop ripping from mods to market new games (EoD for vietnam) (desert combat for bf2)

i don't really like the modern combat games as much as futuristic. tribes 1 and 2 and the dystopia mod for halflife come to mind. i'm really looking forward to this. i love how everyone hates this game and never played it.

Ohhh, so what you're saying is that, once another game has been put out with a similar theme, you shouldn't be able to make another similarly themed game no matter how much better your version may be? That's idiotic. How many WWII games are there? How many games involving modern military combat are there? How many sci-fi, Earth vs another planet games are there? I know, let's just let the modders make their own engines from scratch and see how well the mod community does at keeping us busy with great games. Yes, I'm actually going to buy this game. So will thousands upon thousands of other people. Just like when people started saying that BF 2 sucks and it still has over one million players. I guess it lost it's vision in the right direction, eh? I know, since you're so big on original ideas, how about you enlighten us with one of your original ideas for a game that a million people will want to play. Oh wait, that's right, you can't be overly original when you're trying to appeal to a million people. You've got to find something that alot of people already like. Funny how that works, isn't it?

I highly doubt BIPEDAL WALKING ROBOTS seem tactically advantageous or practical. You have to think of it like that...

Type in 'Bipedal Tank' in either Wikipedia or Google and you get results for games and/or films. Which shows that just throwing in the cliche futuristic stuff is VERY unoriginal and will never happen in 2142. Not to mention stupid, please im looking for some sort of military research scientist here who can back up my statment that bipedal walking robots are really unpractical...doubt i will find one but whatever..

Technically speaking the tech for Bipedal tanks is here today...

It's mainly about practicality, bipedal tanks are not practical.

I don't see bipedal tanks ever getting into armies. Hoverships and all sorts of crazy stuff yes. But not bipedal tanks...

We definatly need some original ideas for futuristic games.

Because it's the same engine BF2 will stay alive, and when all the great mods like FH and PoE are releast, noone will play BF2142 trust me!
