Um... that's how companies work. They make stuff, and you buy it. It's not a ploy, just a dubious attempt at a new game when an existing one is hardly finished.

Stealthing? Wow...that absolutely kills gameplay. I can already see it "You have been banned. Reason: Stealth Whore. This definitely looks crappy from my perspective. I really like the modern warafre and dislike the old ww2 stuff, certain games are good in a futuristic setting like doom³ and q4 but this is gonna blow. They are only making it because q wars is coming out and are trying to copy it since they can never think of anything themselves.

This game looks stupid im going to stick with the bf2 mods. I bet 90% of the mods stay with bf2.

the relentless mindless mind numbing hype starts... bf2 is not dead yet. there are still bugs to fix.

boy they are killing the modders. they can't even get their stuff out before they abandon and move one...

Landscape on the other Hand looks cool, I love the skyscrapers unforunitly it looks identical to the orginal Halo 2 concepts. Cool but Uncool.

Mech looks pretty fun, I really would love you just walk around and have a crushing animation or animations from Dawn of War that the drednoughts had to rip and slaughter people.

This game is many combinations. I could easly say it's a mixture of several games that were all great.

But then again I'll stop there because a lot of futuristic games share a lot of ideas.

I really wish the focus was on Mod Support, I bought Half Life 2 the other day because of it's mod support. I don't treally play it that much but I wouldn't mind messing with it soon. Mod support is running at about 1/3 of what it could be which is sad. This game is proof that the public can make something that people love. All of you can say DC made BF2 and that all of you at one point in buying BF2 loved it.

Let us build on BF, sell us Modding support not 10 dollar mods, stop hard coding stop surpessing Mod team ideas because you want to have all the fun.

with bf2, they introduced new concepts like commander mode, squads, built in VOIP, unlocks, ranks etc. these things were great additions and took the game to another level. if there are no new additions to the game (destructable environments, objective based missions, team-work focused maps) then it seems like this is just a re-hash of BF2. the least we can hope for is that this is like BF2 only with the bugs worked out.

Well, dang. I was having so much fun with BF2 that it could've lasted me much longer. It looks like it's on the BF2 engine which would be good because I upgraded my comp JUST for BF2 and really can't afford to do it again so soon just to play a new game. I like the concept of 2142, but I wish they'd give it a few more years so we can get our money's worth out of BF2!

Seeing as how they made no crushing animation in any of the bf series, it will most likely be a jerky motion of the player moving to the side of it then getting killed. Remember, EA always makes stuff look good before the game is released. Look at how the first video of BF2 was. The game would have been 10x as glorious if it was like they first showed it! The screenshots and everything are always edited to make it look as good as possible. Unless they are going to incorporate DX10 and the new stuff that should be getting released in Q3-Q4 this year, and are using a better engine, there will be no change in this.

They are really trying to kill the mod community with this game. It probabaly has a lot to do with Quake Wars as some of you have already stated.

Lol - I wouldn't get too exited about what you see in the video. By the time the game is released, half the things will be cut and you'll have to buy them extra in booster packs....laser-guided-missles*cough*repelling-out-of-helos*cough*

Besides I too fail to understand why they would launch another game only a year after BF2 was released. Not very smart from a marketing standpoint. The BF2 market has hardly been satisfied... - now this? Oh well...

This is the first BF Game to not have the US in it...yet another reason for me not to buy it. No offense, but I much perfer to fight for my own country than two that don't exist. (Yes, I know the EU exists, but it's not really a country. )
