        Re: US Intervention Mod Update

Anyways, I really do like the flying In Battlefield 2. Loved the feeling, I never found it to be an easy hover but if it is it's better for ground troops trying to shoot them down. I'll admit Its good everyone can fly because I hated playing BF1942 with people who couldn't fly but tried to anyways.

All ages play these games, not just pros. Plus since not everyone is in a clan with 12 people they know and can rely on, then it's good to have some easy to fly choppers. I do not feel choppers are over powerful unless you bring the MEC chopper in. That thing is nasty.

I never liked the vehicles physics in any BF game. I am talking about wheel based vehciles. I always felt like I was driving on ice and that you slide a little more then you think you would. Not to mention taking damage from a bump could kill ya. I felt though this was much improved in BF2 but it's still there.

Bf2 is fun guys, yes there are a lot fo people who ruin a good game but it isn't a bad game. I like it and feel 50 dollars got me a summer of fun plus a new hobbie in Textures.

PS... USI is going to be amazing fun. It may not be perfect but indeed it will be as fun as BF2 was the first week if not MORE then that but for about 8 months instead of one 1 week...

Because he is a noob but he makes some pretty cool skins that when you see them will make you go" oMG thats a prettyy cool texture. Not amazing mind blowing but still awesome ..."

Check out the Pilot in wolfis Apache screen shots... new pilot gear.

Also APache is to L33t for my taste but I think ground forces will take quick care of them. I am looking foward to MH-6, UH-60 improvements (nothing offical I just love flying this thing), and of course the Huey...

team work rocks. I mean ....!

We will tweak it but this is the basic physics. I loved flying apache in DC, i dont like BF2's style.
But i think flying the apache is more like DC, except that the helo hovers when you release throttle.

Now, after the pics have been posted, I can show you the ingame shots I took for the internal forums. You can see it in a brighter light setting, means you can see more details and such.
Go here for Apache screens, and here for Abrams screens
was lookin good till this point. DC heli physics is the way forward. the mod with that in place i can forgive and will have my devotion.

            !
Nobody talked about being Pro... It's all about skills.. and you practice for skills... like you do in infantry fighting. Why dont they just have AUTO AIM for the infantry then?

I SO MUCH argree with mro about devotion, If you practice and get good at it you will be devoted to a challencing mod like DC. Similar with Counter Strike.. If you are a CS noob you dont stay a chance at first.. it takes a lot of practice.. Finally when you get some skills, you get hooked on it. Same with DC... Why do all mods have to be noob friendly... DC was a huge success and is still the most popular BF mod out there, CS is the most popular Half life mod too.

Many players... like my clan have gone back to playing DC..

regardless of what u think markhawk DC was the benchmark for many mods in 42 and that was no bad thing. all it needed was the troop side replaced with more what we have now, newer graphics and it would have been bloody close to perfect. every vehicle was fun. and u knew when u got a kill there was skill involved. it was rewarding. even just hovering the F1 in its tail was fun. thats what BF2 etc all missed. its that fun factor.

look at it from another mod. forgotten hope. that game NEEDS skill. and its a fun and rewrding mod.

what do FH and DC have in common that make them fun?

they both need skill and practice. u get out what u put in. the mod that does that is what im waiting for. and i hope USI will be that. but if it aint ...

                  you'll what? lmao

just appreciate all the hard work these guys are doing and pass judgement when you get to play it huh? quite frankly this whole talk on why an old outdated chopper system should be in a new mod of an engine tht has its own new physics system is complete nonsense and badgering a mod to do things your way isnt too smart either...

whatever USI does i am sure it will be an incredible mod - nuff said.

oh im sorry i thought that u might want opinions on what we, the community, were looking for. i must have been wrong.

and i think u will find that i have never once put down the mod or effort put into it. i have given my opinion on what i see as being the makings of a good mod and one that i personally would like.
jimbob u seem to be taking things far too personally. if u dont want people putting up ideas and justifications for those ideas posted say now and i will not say another word and u can bask in the " man dis gonna rox. dis mod luk so kul m8" that seems to be all u want to hear.

and the coders who did the physics for DC did a fantastic job. whats wrong with giving praise to that effort?

ok, you know what, we are using our own helicopter physics, that should solve all problems :p

But of course our helis are based on the BF2 system, we will make them a tad more fun to fly though

Right but it was a break through for it's time. I do not think we are aiming for recreation though. We are aiming our own Unique feel. We do like the publics opinions but just for future reference we are not looking to be Desert Combat for BF2. Yes Desert Combat was great for it's time but honestly it's outdated. We are doing a lot more with USI, just like many other mods are pushing the BF2 to it's limits, then redfining the limits so that others can take it one step further. All we ask is that you have faith in us. Our mod is built for fun,and yes skill is involved. A t-72 stands no chances against an M1A1 and team work will be needed if you have go up against one.

Trust me every concern you have with USI has been addressed and debated about in countless rants and fights in our Dev forums. We addressed tons of them and after .1 we will see the general publics reaction. From there we will debate again and again till we feel it's perfect.

Ok I am in class I need to finish work.
                        Later Guys.

Then I guess you guys could add Auto Aim feature for the infantry too.

Well at least Desert Conflict Mod team have stated that they will use similar
physics as the DC mod... So all the people who loved DC will just have to wait for their release then..

Helinoobs can play yours.... dont expect any devotion from the community because there are soo many other mods coming, and not much makes yours special

I know no one who loved playing DC and could fly because of PRACTICE saying that he likes dummy flying BF2..most people I know of and have been on the DC forums have NOT lasted in the noob world of BF2... They are waiting for a DC like mod... a challenging play.

Remember that the DC communty was the largest one. You are pleasing the noobs from bf42... who already got their dummy controling helis with the relaese of BF2

But your mods looked very good untill now. good luck anyway

I was using DC as a benchmark , as BF2 did, as it was a very well put together mod that combined the best of many disciplines in a balance of skill vs fun. Of course i know that USI is not DC and will not be it. AS i said it seemed like a common enough point of reference

Please dont take my comments to be that there is a lack of faith but there is alot wrong with BF2, more so with each patch, and to put that much right will take some work.

ok, you know what, we are using our own helicopter physics, that should solve all problems

Altho u can see that with vague statements like the above people may get the wrong impression about something that they see as important. in this case that is the physics of the helicopters. We have seen several mini-mods that have attempted to make the physics more "skilled" , for lack of a better term, but I still havent seen one that has made it so that the Helis dont appear to be hung from the rotor head , like those helis/planes/whatevers that u hag from a light and zoom round and round, and that can skim over the ground coming up and dropping down over sand dunes/hills/buildings, falre, touch down and dust off all while not going any higher than half the height of the heli.

USI has come from relative obscurity to a front runner and that is a good thing. I like some of the ambitous goal that you have set but there always the apprehension that Mod "x" looks good but fails at the last hurdle ie: PoE

Trust me every concern you have with USI has been addressed and debated about in countless rants and fights in our Dev forums. Does this mean that a reasoned approach that balances concerns with the level of fun will be taken or that those who shout loudest will win. Dice seem to follow what is shouted about to the detriment of making a good game ( mind people who are happy dont complain). As there is no monetary concern , or atleast a lower amount i would presume, does this mean that the focus of the devs will be to make a good game over pandeing to please everyone it can?

Sorry I do not mean to sound rude either, DC was an amazing BenchMark. No Doubt in my mind. skill vs fun is the most important thing. I think the major add to that list we want to add is authentic/relistic to it's era. Such as weapon load out all the way to correct Camo used. These is a fair amount of skill in our modand the best example I can give is from my M1A1 vs T-72 example above.

I do not like how Dice has done this. We shouted we loved DC and Bf2 was made but other then bugs this shouting thing should of halted once BF2 was released.

I really can't speak for all the Devs. I do not want to get in trouble. But personally I aim for Authentic, I do textures for models and we try and match them up with what was seen in the Desert Storm. I would like to think there is a fair balance between Fun and Skill, we aren't catering to everyone but we aren't going to make everything final. There will be tweaks for major upsets to the community I assume and it will most likely be based off of what Devs have to say about it also.
