Well at least Desert Conflict Mod team have stated that they will use similar
physics as the DC mod... So all the people who loved DC will just have to wait for their release then..

Helinoobs can play yours.... dont expect any devotion from the community because there are soo many other mods coming, and not much makes yours special

I know no one who loved playing DC and could fly because of PRACTICE saying that he likes dummy flying BF2..most people I know of and have been on the DC forums have NOT lasted in the noob world of BF2... They are waiting for a DC like mod... a challenging play.

Remember that the DC communty was the largest one. You are pleasing the noobs from bf42... who already got their dummy controling helis with the relaese of BF2

But your mods looked very good untill now. good luck anyway
Actually I played DC and loved the heli controls and physics in it. But i like them in BF2 also. So you can't talk for everyone.

Edit: One more Q, if u can answer, are u still pushing forward with having the A10 have the 2 AA, Rocket pods and Missiles?
No Prob. I know the Rockets and the Misssiles are there for sure. 100% The 2 AA though have been discussed and we are working to see balance issues. If it proves to own everything then things may be cut but for now the A-10 does have AA that is being tested.

There may be differennt layouts to, depending on maps but I do not know if the A-10 will have different layouts in .1

        Re: US Intervention Mod Update

All this heli patter is a laugh.

        Here my 2 bobs.

Skill wise the only difference to BF2 and DC simply is.....hold on....wait for it... it was harder to initially learn how simply to put the DC one in the air.

A noob can pick up and play a bf 2 heli easier than DC, but, both games require skill to master it.

I played DC, quite liked the helis, yes they had a certain feel, and you would have to have a constant input to keep the thing in the air.

I too, didnt like the bf2 helis at first (but not as much as BFV ones) but it is a different skill set required.

A noob will last seconds in a heli in bf2, however easy it is to pick up fly and hover....when i get in a heli. especially with one of my gunner buddies on TS, dont bother waiting at the helipad...i'll have it for the round.

Difference between DC and BF2 helis. DC cater mainly for the pilot, BF2 caters for enhanced teamplay, with a pilot using the heli, how its meant to be used, with the gunner picking up most of the kills and the pilot, keeping the heli alive and gaining tactical advantage.

Can mind back in my DC days, even remember a golden nugget of a question, was how to make the Apache hover. Much discusiion was put into it, and had a alot of support, only thing was the plane physics on the helis.

My experience from trying out the apache in USI (which is safe to say, as it has been previouslly stated that it has SF physics, and I havent played SF) is that it was faster and more manouverable.

This I liked, it is like the slow tanks we have in Vanilla, you know they should be faster, give you the sense that you are in control of a mean fighting machine, and not going at jogging speed across the desert.

This is waht i got in the apache, it shifts, you can turn it sharp,be in major control, i liked it. As a pilot you can get in take your target out yourself and get away...but you know what? Ill still fly it like vanilla BF2...sneaking up on targets at low level...take out AA, take out humvee, take out threats and line my gunner up for missile and gun shots, with more manouvreabilty and speed, ill ju get out of trouble or into position that much quicker. (with the better AA thats a good idea.)

Got to think evolution here. DC was the evolution of what they had. It was an amphibian coming onto land for good without fully adapted lungs, yes it works and adapted, but thats waht it was, it needed change. Now BF2 can breathe a little better, now lets see if wee can get it walking upright, lets evolve what we have without taking it back in time.

Play the mod when it comes out, leave your feedback.

Some old hands doing the beta testing, and some cool heads, screw the who screams and moans loudest wil win, who gives there arguments in a way that is logical and enhances the gameplay will win.

Community involvement is the way to go, coupled with sound and logical decision making and beta after beta will give you all the game ya want.

And to end it, you could hover in DC, and cant really see it being a problem giving a gunner a target... but dare I say it, after playing BF2 for close on 9 months, that BF2 does it not bad, just needs a bit of sauce added to give it that zing.

^Finaly, someone who knows what they are talkin about! One of the better analogies I have heard :) Just watched a 2hour tv series on that heh

My 3 points on heli physics

          1. It was only a matter of practice/time for me to master the DC helis. Despite being a 'good' pilot, I found the physics to be ridiculous and not very practical.

          2. The original 'Desert Combat' helicopter physics were %100 wrong. They only used those flight physics because thats all they had to work with. If they had the chance to use BF2's heli physics, I can guarantee they would have. DC's helicopter physics were NOT designed to make it a 'skilled' vehicle. They were NOT designed to prevent 'noobs' from wasting everyone else. They were designed based on what was available and what worked.

          3. Collective Throttle - The entire reason why bf2's heliphysics are the way they are. Its how helicopters actualy work.

Keep up the good work guys(USI), that map looks very similar in style to the map I had started for you guys glad to know its still planned for the build :)

But it was implemented in different ways. EoD and PoE had the collective increase with the throttle thus giving a more elevator feel whilst DC was closer to throttle up to summit like 80% then the collective came in ( i think that was how they explained it before)

After the last couple posts I have to admit i have alot more confidence in the Direction that the USI makers want to go and the approach.

on the A10: With that range of weaponary fitted that would be a seriously scary plane to face off against. Cant wait to get control of a proper ground pounder.

I am defiantly liking some of these ideas that the community is throwing around. The possibilities are endless really :) . With proper tweaking USI can really be the last step of evolution on thebamsco's list :) .

Listen, not dissing you or anything. I'd rather fly a helicopter relistically rather then having modified plane physics engine from 1942. Thats exactly what they had to do. I will play any mod that adds new content at this point that still keeps the game in a war FPS shooter style. I am just waiting for PoE, USI, and DCON. If you don't feel helicopters should be able to hover, then your pretty Ignorant. Why where working on that why don't they just go back to the old BF1942 graphics. Theres tons of people who cannot fly, if your saying it requires no skill to learn manuvers, and fly the new helicopters then you probally never tried them to begin with. So in a short summary, at the time the mod Desert Combat was out they had to work with what the engine supported. Which was not helicopters. In PoE they didn't really have much of a choice either. I liked them anyway, I loved PoE for vietnam. They just kept going trucking.
I liked DC, and I could rape the **** out of anyone with the helo, however I would not like to go back to a modified air plane physics of BF1942. The helicopters FLY now realistically. In Vietnam you could turn on a dime and circle things alot easier in the Heuy's. They have focused on real life physics in this game. In special forces the helos fly alot like Vietnam. Its easier to hit tanks and anything else, but in SF the apache is suppose to be alot more manuverable.. The cobra wants to go into a dive when you come down on a target, making it hard to pull up.
