SWAT Mod Update

There is a new update posted today over at the SWAT mod website. They are happy to announce their mod to the public and have some media to already show. Here's what they had to say:
SWAT is a brand-new total conversion modification for Battlefield 2, based on swat operations. We have been in development for some time now, and it is finally time to reveal our project. Our goal is to provide you with unique gameplay that combines both the total mayhem of Battlefield 2 and the realism of the many swat operations and their tactics.
Now to the good stuff. Our artists have been hard at work for the past couple of weeks to provide you with a few goodies atlast. First we have a player model for the SWAT team, modeled and skinned by Havoc89. This is the assault class, and other classes are currently in production. Next we move onto the weapons. First we have the M4, modeled by Havoc89, and skinned by some0guy0. This weapon is assigned to swat's assault class. Next we have the FN P90, modeled by Havoc89, and skin is currently in production. This weapon is assigned to swat's special forces class. Lastly, we've got something special. A fictional prototype version of a weapon called the scorpion. We are not revealing any information on this weapon as of yet.
We have a small but very dedicated team who is hard at work to bring this mod onto your hard-drive as soon as possiable. We currently are looking for fresh tallent in ALL AREAS, so if you are interested in helping us out, then please contact me at havoc89@gmail.com or contact gx at mcmahon08@hotmail.com

Nice to see a new mod for BF2 popping up. Pretty nice models and very crisp looking skins I must say. Though I am a little confused at what that weird nail gun looking object is. Maybe will fight construction workers.

I dunno, SWAT doesn't really fit in the Battlefield 2 world. The models and skins are pretty nice, though I dislike the P90 model. If thats a forward handgrip, its not need and hardly seen and if that is supposed to be a laser sight above the surpressor, thats in the wrong place.

But the M4A1 and the SWAT officer look pretty good.

we have some really great coders on our team, they will be changing bf2 around alot, better ai and everything, also with how weapons work if you dont work as a team but the other team does it will in the end crush you.

Things that do not fit in are interesting ... think about a movie about people who fit in (She's all that) not that interesting, now how about a movie about a group of kids who don't fit in SLC Punks AMAZING!

anyways beyong movies, offering something outside your typical BF2 experiance is what mods do. This one does it better then others but going this far away requires a lot of testing. I'll be happy to see what gets turned out.

              Re: SWAT Mod Update

Its not so much that it doesn't fit in with BF2 in that sense, its more of that kind of tactical shooter is more of CQB and in doors usually in one building, where as BF2 (and SF) focus alot of a wide area combat, even on the city maps (only map in SF to actually focus on extreme CQB is the level on the carrier.) Just seems to me like a SWAT mod would be better on the Source Engine rather than the BF2 engine. But I guess we'll see.

But I dunno, it'll defiantly be interesting to see how it turns out.

                  Re: SWAT Mod Update

lol at the proportions of the player model - it looks awesome but he looks like he would be about 5 foot tall ( i would say 5' 6" ) based on his physical proportions (headsize to body)...

nice work all the same!!! looks very prim and trim - straight outta the van!!

                            Re: SWAT Mod Update

This looks really cool, but the weapons seem a bit iffy. First, that m4 should have a rear iron sight. Next, that p90 has gone way too far. The p90s that SWAT uses don't have all that crap on them. Also, that fold down grip is backwards and should fold out forewards. Finally, what the hell is that scorpion gun??? There is already a scorpion that looks nothing like that, and I don't think SWAT uses either of them. I'm all for using some creative liscence, but just dont go too far.

yeah yeah, i know the m4 shouldnt, becuase the iron sight is on the carrying handle, and we took that off, also yeah, lol the p-90 has gone really far, talk to havoc about that, also the scorpion version we have isnt a real version, we just made it so we wouldnt have the same guns that every other mod has.
