Could be like SF. First time you play you get as many unlocks as your rank allows. So, it's possible to have 4 after the first time you play.

Negative... from my understanding there will not be new unlocks.
The new weapons are the basic Euro gear which you can alter to your current unlocks for each classes.

That's good. Problem being that Euro's get all these new toys, but the MEC's are stuck with sticks and rocks and stuff. And what is your source for this info so that I can take a look?

edit: oops, didn't even see the 1.2 patch update. Too busy looking at the booster pack news. So Euro's will already be equipped with P90 and stuff.

Personally, I have no problem paying more money for new content. (especially new maps, what this game so badly needs) I don't really like how they divided it up though, in 2 part pack. Cuz IMO you will get burnt out really quick playing the same 3 maps over and over. 6 new maps in a server rotation would be alot better. And I hope once both booster packs are released that servers could host all 6 new maps as long as you own both obviously.

Kinda curious how you will launch each booster pack? Will it be a 'mod' within normal BF2? That you will have to activate? Or a completely seperate install like SF was?

PoE and other free mods will blow this away. No need to waste a single cent on this. The free mods will offer more content and be free of charge... it does not get any better than that.

A little bit of advertising there, eh?

Looks to me like EA is trying to compete with the mod community...

You have to think about it at a money making stand point. If EA wants to make money, they WANT mods. Thats why they support them more then most companies do. Just because they make an expansion doesn't mean they don't like the mods. Seriously, if they really wanted to destroy them, they could sue all the mod teams for useing their stuff. Why don't they? Because the mods PRODUCE the game sales of the original release.

An example of this is half-life. Now, I know it's was known as one of the best PC shooters, but what made it really popular and a really good seller was... of course, the most played and most famous PC game/mod... Counter Strike. I bet that tons of people got half-life because they saw CS at one of there friends house or heard about it on the internet. The thing is, since it is a mod, that person would need to buy half-life in order to play CS. See what I'm getting at?
