Re: Two BF2 'Booster Packs' Announced

Can a game like this ever be done. If they quit making new things we would all lose interest. It costs money to make new things so we have to pay for it. I hope they dont stop making maps and giving me new guns for a long time and if I have to shell out some coin to get it I gladly will.

Re: Two BF2 'Booster Packs' Announced

ya know.. its like buying any product really...

if you bought a TV with UHF channels that didnt work..

if you bought a car that the radio never worked..

or hell, even if you bought some tacos from taco bell that had
        been half eaten...

same damn thing here... BF2 was never finished... it was rushed to
market so EA could get their money... DICE was falling behind.. and
EA said no more time, we need the bucks.... therefore, you have a
game that requires several patches within the first 30 days.. (AND NO,
THAT IS NOT COMMON IN TODAYS SOFTWARE...) Sure, a patch, yea..
thats typical... but 3 within the first month ?? 150 bugs and fixes ??

And to top it all off... they still cant fix the biggest problems of all
after 5-6 months.. Server browser still JUNK, hardly works at all,
enemies with blue tags on their model..

Add their unfinished code to the huge list of other crappy aspects
of BF2... The scam of the ranked servers... the terrible, server killing
ranked server rules, i.e. minimum player to start game...

The game is down right painful to play.. pretty damn user UN-friendly
if you ask me.. shame too, because it had potential.. but in the end
fell way short of being a long resident on my hard drive.. A game that
could have been the biggest and baddest EVER, ended up 'just another
        game..'

I have no problem paying $10 for an upgrade as people don't realize how much programming it takes just to do simple things in a game, so it can take a very long time to tweak a game as addons keep comming out it gets better.
The gave has alot of different directions it can go as I see BFII being around for a long time.

yea well you must not play often cause the red name bug happens on almost every 64 player server i go on.........and again they need to fix the bugs, lag issues with sf and the original game instead of whoring us out more content

Re: Two BF2 'Booster Packs' Announced

Wow some narrow minded views here. Bought SF and have been playing last few months and enjoying every bit of it. Grappling hook I still use all the time to go to spots that are hard to get to and I use lots of the other stuff also, $30 I spent was well worth the hours of enjoyment I got from the game. Spent at most an hour reinstalling a couple different drivers to find out what driver works best for my hardware combination(welcome to the PC world, quit whinning and deal with it).

                AMD 2600 at 1.87GHz, 1Gig 3200 Ram, AIW 9800 Pro
Works flawlessly for me at medium settings, shadow enabled and I still own all those fools who wasted their money on high end systems for an extra few pixels of eye candy and didn't spend some time reading up how to get the most out of your system and DIY.

I feel some pitty for the users who don't understand how their computers work but seem to understand how the message button works on the forum. I don't think those are fair opinions of the game most of the time as those people just sit there and vent all their frustration and exaggerate their problems most of the time. I have seen it countless times in a thousand threads where they concentrate all their hatred at EA and completely forget that it might be their computer, ISP or just cannot accept the fact that their geographic location and that they may not be able to have access to the digital world fully.

For some of us it might cost us maybe a 12 pack of beer for two days for others it might cost them a 12 pack of Diet-Pepsi's\Zima.

Re: Two BF2 'Booster Packs' Announced

the red tag bug happens to me quite a bit... at least 3 times
per night.. I wouldnt say that is 'SELDOM' .... Last night I
rocketed a jeep that had 3 teammates in it because of that
                  bug, cost me 12 points..

Its not that the bug is such a huge issue... whats EXTREMELY SAD
is that DICE cant fix simple problems like this and others..

Why does the Auto balance switch me to the other team when I have
double the points anyone else on my team does...?? I mean, hell, sooner
or later DICE is gonna have to use some friggin common sense..SWITCH
THE HIGH SCORER TO THE OTHER TEAM TO BALANCE IT????????????
                  HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.... omfg.. thats hilarious..

Or, switching the commander to the other team ??? even funnier..

fact is, neither DICE or EA have any brains at all... they throw all
their money at Madden and leave the morons to deal with the BF2
                  game, apparently..

Common simple problems.. should have NEVER been in their release
version... and even worse, after 3 patches and going on 2 exp. packs.

EA/DICE release unfinished products, then give it no support whatsoever..
                  simple as that..

I think this booster pack idea sounds cool, but I am a little confused on why EA hasn't announced anything new with the release date being so close. You would think they would have told us if it is a seperate mod or if it is an add on to V-bf2. My logical guess is that it is just a add on to V-bf2, otherwise they would call it a mod. The only problem i would see is how they make it so bf2 v players w/o booster and bf2 v players w/ booster can play together with the new vehicles and levels and weopons. If This is only a MOD, screw it, I wouldn't recommend buying it if it doesnt tie into BF2 Vanilla, go with free mods. BTW, to you people who were bitching about paying money for it, $20 isn't that much, especially when it is to keep a game from dying. just buy one less dub that month, and you'll be fine.

you wouldnt know the differance between a good coded game and
                            a bad one, obviously..

Problems with BF2? Where do I start? Well.. let me start with this..
Out of the 100 copies that my local gamestop sold the initial release
month, 35 were returned. Since release, BF2 has been stagnet, and
SF exp pack was a failure, imo, also.

As for myself personally, I have the money to buy quality parts,
which in BF2's case is essential.. Going by what the box says is
required to play it, I wouldnt attempt it with some of those video
                            cards EVER.

The code is a HUGE MASSIVE NIGHTMARE. I have actually spoken with
a programmer on the swedish team who told me in not so many words,
that this was the reason the release date was pushed back and back
for months, which was because the programmers lost the handle on
the code and it became a grizzly to maintain, and debug. Its horrible.
I work in engineering and use cad software daily that require MUCH more
horsepower than what BF2 could ever dream of, but yet, BF2 takes 5
times to load a simple map, takes 5 times as long to load a simple browser
server request, on and on, the examples are endless..

I have written many pieces of software in my days.. and I can tell anyone
without a doubt, that had I EVER released anything as buggy, flawed, and
hopelessly correctable, I would have been fired a looooong time ago..

There is a well known bug in the game that enemies show up as friendlies.
Now, we all have heard of this happening, and yes, it was even happening
during beta testing PRE-RELEASE... but yet here we are all these months,
all these patches later, and they still havent addressed it, even going as
far as saying themselves 'We cant figure out whats causing it'.. <- WOW.
                            Thats sad. Extremely so..

Fact is, The programmers of BF2 did a HORRIBLE job of keeping things
in line, on track, and debugged.. EA's biggest fault was rushing DICE
to release BF2 so they could make some dough, before the game was
actually finished.. this is FACT. Even DICE did not dispute this.. of
course, now that EA owns DICE you wont hear any open critism from
                            themselves...

Now they want me to buy expansion packs, and MODs ??

Who are they friggin kidding.. When they fix the original games
bugs, server browser, and quit catering to the crybabies of BF2..
(you know the ones.....whaaa whaaa he bunny hopped...) then
I will consider purchasing more from EA... but I dont look for that
to happen, EVER.. EA does not support titles that dont have the
name MADDEN in them.. well known fact.

BF2 division is the red headed step child of EA.. and gets about as
                            much attention... very little..

And for the guy who above stated that $20 isnt that much, so go
out and buy these mods and exp. packs... well, since its not that much
why dont you buy some of us our copies.. ? Actually, money is the least
of my problems, but things like this are a matter of principal, and I refuse
to do repeat business with lousy companies like EA..

Let them keep making expansions and boosters all they want. The old content gets boring after a while. All that I ask is that they beef up the expansions/boosters a with a little more content. EA, you listen to me god dammit, just keep the expansions/boosters at $10-$25 and you have mine and a lot of other peoples money. If EA were to give us a free booster pack, I would be willing to look past the infamous "Red Tag Bug".

It would actually be quite simple. Those who have the booster packs will be able to play/view the new maps. Those who do not have the boost pack won't be able to play/view the new maps. Nothing in the orginal maps will change. The patch will take care of the weapons carry over just like the last patch took care of the weapons carry over from SF.
