Re: Patch 1.03 Released!
First I like that you cannot be punished or receive negative points for someone running into your Artillery. Actually it seems that some servers will still hand out negative points for that, so I guessing that it must be a setting option. But at least it will stop it10ts from running half way across the map just to run into your Artillery so they can kick you off the server and take commander for them selves. That issue was a sore topic for commanders in general.
APC got a big boost in the game, the guns seems to do more damage and no longer get stuck on mole hills. By the same token attack choppers are no longer flying invincible tanks any more. I was able to take down one by shooting at it with the main gun on an APC. It is a nice change because APC's were way underpowered before IMHO.
I also liked the way EA/Dice fixed the way flag capturing in vehicles was changed. I slowed the down the base caping to allow people the chance to play.
Special forces people now receive points for blowing up UAV/SAT trailers and artillery now. This is a good thing as it gives SF kits a reason to go after those assets now. It also means that the commanders will have to earn their points from here out. I saw a lot more people go after those assets after the patch.
The Wake Island map was a nice change but it is just a mess feast for the Chinese. Once the main base is taken by the US the round is basically over and the Chinese will have lost. This is a balance issue that EA should have addressed in the patch. As it is now one team can always win just by taking all the bases no mater how low on tickets they are. IMHO each team should have a un-capture able base, I think it would radically change the dynamics of the game and make it more fun.
After playing today and watching everyone get rank everytime they sneezed, I have no desire to play this game anymore (I had all but three weapons unlocked before the 1.03 patch). It seemed like EA just shot themselves in the foot just to give the ADD kids instant gratification. Once people unlock all the weapons there won't be any reason to play the game and will move on. Thus I can see the demand for this game dropping even faster now. Too bad this patch would have been perfect if it hadn't been for this. Oh well Neverwinter 2 should be out sometime next year, I can hold off until then.
