It's not very realistic for engineers to be able to fix a vehicle from inside the vehicle, anyway.

So..in reality, when a vehicle is damaged, a single screwdriver fixes it?

Alright, here are a couple more things about the patch:

- For some reason, some servers (last night's was ECG) still drop clients (Connection to server lost).

- Most 64 player servers give off way too much beginning lag, and even throughout the game

- The helicopters(attack) get damaged WAY easier now, not that I really care. It just makes it more challenging as a pilot.

- I can still escape most AA sites after lock with my helicopter + flares

- I went up so fast in rank, that I am now in posession of all but one unlock!! lol

- I like the new sounds except for the MEC jeep, sounds like a lawnmower having troubles

- I like that APCs have an easier time climbing hills

I finally was able to kill something with a jet, using A2A missiles, which is new for me.

And last but not least, nothing to do with the patch, but I came out of a 64man server (ECG still I think) with 255 points...By the end of the match, which took forever on Fushee Pass, I was SO tired. There were only like 16 ppl left on the server, having two attack helis with no real threat made it SO simple.

For some reason now when I start BF2 and forget to put the CD in, it still starts. No I'm not running a *****, or cd/dvd image emulator. Everything works as it normally would, right up until I actually get in the server. I lose connection about 1-3s after clicking "join game." I don't mind putting the CD in, what annoys me is if I forget, and it doesn't yell at me for it, I waste about 15+ minutes starting up the game, logging in, loading/verifying, etc, then I have to close the game and put the CD in then start all over before it will work...

Anyone else have this problem?

Quit complaining. I play about 7 or 8 hours per week on average. (sometimes more) Since the day the game came out. I only just got 10500 points. And it was exhausting. With all the bugs and lack of unlocks I'd practically given up on ever getting any more ranks/ribbons. I'm not sure if the new rank system is too low but ANYTHING lower than before makes me and your average player happy. We play for fun. We play for feeling like we are achieving something while having fun. Recieving awards and ranks is fun. And that fun is back for most of us. If you have beat the game got all the ranks etc. Start a new account and earn them all again.

And I love the new get out of vehicles to capture thing. A black hawk capping a flag in 2 seconds is just bloody anoying especially on public servers. It can ruin a map by ending it in like 5 mins, not to mention seeing everyone jump out of the chopper like they are supposed to is AWESOME.

As long as stinger sites take longer to respawn once killed I have no problems with them at all! Just means people will have to distroy them before whoring. ADAPT you whiners. FINALLY we can kill those stat whore jet players, but now that going up ranks is easier perhaps we wont see so much jet whoring.

Longer spawn after a vehicle is distroyed is also awesome. Stops the same player always getting the chopper as they know it will spawn just as they make it to the pad after respawning (on most maps anyways).

My thoughts on the new patch:
First off...no problems at all installing the patch or running the game.
I had a little stuttering in karkland and did get dropped once... no mention of fixing random drops but it could be my 7mbit connection.
So the patch as far as i'm concerned is fine...however...major change in game play just plain sucks....
Commanders get no kills for arty any more...that's ********. Who in the hell would want to be a commander now. For the points!?
I'm a gunnery sargent now. who cares about points. Jesus these ea/dice decision makers are idiots. Did anyone ask us what we thought? **** I've played this game for 5 ****ing days now! The game is now half what it was in 1.02. It's just another arcade shoot-em up now. flying a helicoptor is like flying through a mine field. It's absurd...and that's if you have the patience to wait 2 minutes for the damn thing to spawn.
So it's not the code i'm disappointed with...the server lists work etc...favorites... great. But the game is ruined. We're all a bunch of sargents running around and nobody wants to be commander anymore. If anyone had told me their plan I would have told them exactly what is happening already in these servers.
WAKE UP EA! Try to listen to the people who actually take the time to talk about your games. Chances are, if we're happy...you're going to sell the game to a hell of a lot more people.

You don't get arty kills anymore??? for being a commander you expect to get those kills when you call down a artillery shots. I hope that's not the case.

I'd say that you still get the points, they just don't show anymore in your stats during the game. I have played the first 4 or 5 hours after the patch came out only commander and in the game i only got the kills counted when I killed somebody with a weapon. But when I went to BFHQ the kills went up about 200 for the artillery kills. So it's not giving you the points for arty kills, but it didn't either before the patch.

1.03 is a great jump in the smoothness and enjoyment of the game. The faster ranking is how it should be, because hardcore players already own newbees so it is a complete un balance if the hardcores have better guns. The Faster ranking will allow for a more balanced competition. I do feel for the Hardcore that worked so hard, but lets face it you guy/girls kick ass anyway so stop comlaining. The game is about fun!!!!!!, yes its not perfect however the game is now at an acceptable level and is awsome fun to play. Just enjoy it don't crack the sads with everyone and everything and play it because it is enjoyable. Seya in the field and have fun killing me or i'll enjoy getting you

yesterday I've gone up 3 ranks, nothing happen so far, today the same, and the same and the same. Every f*** game I played (allways ranked server) I got the promotions again starting from the beginning??? At BFHQ there is not change either...what is going on there? I believe 24 h should be enought for EA's freaky server to realising that my promotion and weapon unlock is granted! :evil:

Um, I might be confused here. But you didn't get kills as commander for ARTY in 1.02 either only 1.01.

As far as I know the kills perhaps only increase your commander score.

Are you completing the map? I was reading somewhere that for points/medals/ribbons to count you have to play to the END of the map. Then you can quit out and LOG out then back in to recieve your unlock.

So make sure you complete the level if you gain a medal or rank. It sucks when you get dropped or kicked for accidently team killing twice.

You picked one sentence out of my huge post to talk smack about and that was it? And who's talking about a screwdriver. Hell, the engineer uses a wrench in the first place. And no, it's not realistic that he uses one tool. That tool is representative of the actions that he's taking. Be sure to tell EA to include a full tool kit next time. Again, repairs should not be able to be done from inside of a vehicle. Repairs should only be able to be accomplished either at your base or in a place where your engineer is exposing himself to direct fire. OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. It was a pretty simple point. Now pipe down and go practice your AA.

IMPORTANT.

In the patch message it says it will now BAN your cd key for team kills not just your IP. How many teamkills?

Where I live (new zealand). There are only like 5 good ranked servers. I have been banned from all of them at one stage or another. And all you have to do is team kill TWICE and you get banned. Everytime it has been accidentle. OR GAME BUGS such as exploding vehicle which is probably fixed. But it seems the crashing into other vehicles like chopper into jet teamkill bug isn't fixed and niether is the red tag/blue tag bug so its easy to teamkill by accident.

Is the ban permanent? It would suck to be banned because the game is bugged.

how do i get my promotions? i have 8900 points and i've killed on a ranked server and still didn't get my promotions yet? what do i have to do?
