Do everyone a favor and read this thread... completely. It is not a glitch... bug... or magical EA gnome. It's a new point structure.

OK Dazza2005, I can't take it any more and I have to set you straight.

THE NEW RANKS ARE PERMANENT! THEY HAVE CHANGED THE RANKING SYSTEM/POINTS.

This is all spelled out in the changelog:

"- Many criteria for ranks and awards have changed. If you are immediately
eligible for a new promotion, unlock, badge, award, or ribbon, it will
be awarded the next time you receive points on a ranked server."

It is NOT A BUG. It is part of the new patch.

i dont want to play it and find out that they have wiped all my score out plus my ranks and other bits i already have

all i got is the ranking problem and just wish they would sort it out as i dont want to play and get ranked and then lose them ranks

sorry but i am new to the game not like most of you that have played it for awhile all i was tryin to find out was is that rite about the ranks , as i capture one flag a squad member and didnt want to play and get very far just for them to take away my new ranks

1.03 patch fails!

BTW, if you've changed the installation directory for Battlefield 2 from the default, then this patch wont install. It will completely fail.

If you then try to install manually from the temporary file - as some people did with the last patch, it will completely screw up.

Conclusion: if you want to use this patch and you've installed the game to a directory other than the default then you'll have no choice but to completely reinstall Battlefield 2 - to it's default install location.

Seriously.. Where are those copious amount of fixes that people were expecting?

I think this game may go the way of Battlefront... played it a couple of time, game was "buggy", crappy support, eventually just gave up on the game.

Such a pitty, it could be so great.

Actually debating returning the game and demand a refund, because it's pretty much unplayable, even though my system specs are better than the min and recommended specs.

I would like to know what specs you have??....if you have better than recommended specs, then why is it unplayable??..because I have a mid-high machine with no problems..the game runs fine.

Yeah, to the original poster complaining of performance problems - turn your settings down, dude. No use pretending you've spent a load on your rig when you haven't, buster! Either turn your graphics settings down, or cough up the extra money on a top rank system and quit bitching.

Are you flipping serious?

I NEVER install in default directories, especially not with my gaming rig. All my games are installed into c:\games\ because I find it easier to sort through....

Oye, I guess I will test this out. I never had an issue updating with patch 1.01 and/or 1.02 with it installed in c:\games\Battlefield2...why even give the option?
