EB Games Breaks Duke Nukem Forever Street Date

Is anybody honestly surprised here? For those who missed the obvious headline, it seems as though EB Games has broken the street date for Duke Nukem Forever in the land down under, Australia.

The retailer even went so far as to post this image on their Facebook wall to announce the immediate availability of the game!

Do you want more proof? You've got it! Twitter user, TastyWheat, posted this image.

It seems as though EB Games brought their giant balls of steel to the plate today. More retailers will more than likely follow suit. Obviously, no word yet on broken street dates in North America or other regions.

Anybody else find it supremely amusing how an early release for what is probably the most over the top, juvenile title released in recent memory happens in Australia, a place known to ban just about any game of questionable content?

Go figure, EB/GameStop companies both suck. Honestly they rarely keep they're dates correct or anything they just want to make more money is the only thing.

They could break the street date in Australia and US quite legally:

      1. Place orders for the game, take customers money
      2. Through the UK arm of Electronic Boutique, forfill the order and ship it to the customer

This would be quite legal as the game was released in the UK on 10/06, 4 days before anywhere else. (think of it as ordering the game from amazon.co.uk instead of amazon.com [as Amazon UK will give you the game whereas Amazon US can only take a pre-order])

This is a common technique used by global retailers to get around release dates.

Aren't there region locks to prevent that from happening? Or do they only apply to Japan <-> US? Or does DNF have no region locks at all, therefore the UK method works for some, but not all games?
