EA Responds to Crysis 2 Leak, Once Again Saddened by PC Piracy

Another "blow" to developers came today when Crysis 2 was leaked almost two months ahead of its scheduled release. EA has responded to the leak and once more, is deeply concerned about the role piracy has on PC gaming.

Crytek has been alerted that an early incomplete, unfinished build of Crysis 2 has appeared on Torrent sites. Crytek and EA are deeply disappointed by the news. We encourage fans to support the game and the development team by waiting and purchasing the final, polished game on March 22. Crysis 2 is still in development and promises to be the ultimate action blockbuster as the series’ signature Nanosuit lets you be the weapon as you defend NYC from an alien invasion. Piracy continues to damage the PC packaged goods market and the PC development community.

The emphasis on the quote above is ours. With that said, how long until publishers and developers completely abandon PC gamers and focus on console releases?

Keep in mind that piracy on consoles is a reality and does happen quite frequently. Also keep in mind that this leak of Crysis 2 was of a developer build, meaning someone within the studio sort of screwed up to have this appear online this early. There is also rumored to be a leak of the Xbox 360 version of the game out there, but nobody seems to be saying much about that one.

I seriously hope this will not create a bigger excuse that the PC market is unattractive... I am not at all happy that this is available online, because what good is an early release if our games library in the very near future becomes.... Sparse due to console exclusives? A mere perception/excuse is enough to abandon the PC market. We're already suffering as it is with either poor ports or nothing at all (for games that started on consoles, please ignore Starcraft 2, Orange Box, L4D1/2, WoW, DOTA and its variants, Battlefield series, all MMOs, all F2Ps, etc. for the sake of this argument). Now this bulls*** had to happen? Gee thanks asshole for causing/allowing the leak. I'm sorry the law isn't developed enough to punish you, but I hope you get blacklisted so you can never continue working for this God damned industry ever again. To the industry, don't punish PC gamers like me. Seriously, this is a poor excuse, not a valid reason. Sigh, who am I kidding? I am plain f***ed... And I will never see another PC game that won't blow up my computer in less than a decade from now. Sky will fall, etc. etc. etc. Blablablabla...
