Portal 2 Delayed by Two Months - Marks Shortest Delay in Valve's History

Valve has just revealed that Portal 2 has slipped two months from its intended release all the way to the week of April 18, 2011. The announcement was made with the typical Valve brand of humor, wit, and charm.

VALVE ANNOUNCES SHORTEST DELAY IN VALVE HISTORY

Valve today announced that Portal 2 -- the sequel to the ground-breaking title that won over 30 game of the year awards, despite missing its original ship date -- will now be available the week of April 18th, 2011. This two month slip not only marks the shortest delay in Valve's proud tradition of delays, it represents the approaching convergence of Valve Time and Real Time. Though this convergence spells doom for humanity, it will not affect the new Portal 2 release date.

I do believe this is the second delay announcement we have, so if the "rules of technicality" allow stacking of news releases, then I would say no record has been achieved and the delay is completely within expectations. I quote from the Christmas 2010 delayed to February 2011 news release:

Even though Portal 2 will arrive slightly later than planned, all life on earth won’t instantaneously stop as every molecule in your body explodes at the speed of light, which is what would happen should a rip ever appear in the fabric of Valve Time," says the press release.

That said... This doesn't bother me at all. I expect VALVe to delay their products and I also expect long-term DLC that is free to give me my 60-70 dollars worth. Do what you got to do VALVe Software, my time is better spent whining at other companies ignorantly and pretentiously.

Delays are fine with me, I think I speak for most of the PC community when I say that we are tired of half finished-rushed games.

Trust me it's not just the PC community that is tired of half finished games. I'm over companies thinking they can just fix it with a patch 2 months after release lol.
