Part 1 of the Left 4 Dead Comic, The Sacrifice, Is Here

The first part (of four) for The Sacrifice is finally upon us eager Left 4 Dead fans. The four part comic leads up to the events in The Passing after the original four escaped courtesy of the Military.

The first installment is over 40 pages in length, as will parts 2-4. Speaking of which, the second part is slated to show up on September 21, all of which leads up to the release of The Sacrifice DLC that puts the end in your hands.

I've been silently wondering if this is free. Now I know. How the living hell can VALVe afford this to be free to everyone? I mean with the concept of chargeable DLC gone mainstream and everything outside of gameplay tweaks and bug fixes are now fitted with a price tag (including map remakes), I really can't figure out how VALVe keeps this free and relies on new sales of the game itself (at a discounted price). The comic is outsourced to a third-party, and then hosted on a server. That isn't free for them at all... And now they're doing DLC for both L4D1 and L4D2, which are also free (and profitable to Microsoft with their rules for Live). I could've sworn making DLC and alternative media (videos that aren't trailers [Meet The Series], comics, contests that affect the development [modelling contests], fake letters, and fake ads) costs money to developers. It scares me to think they're willing to make this free and still expect to profit from new purchases (I mean eventually everyone has a copy), while having no investors/stockholders to financially support them. How the **** do they do this?

On a side note, I wasn't expecting this until January of 2011. I thought the GT preview is all we're getting this year. Pleasant surprise.

Twas a very entertaining comic... brought back memories of playing L4D and it made me want to play again, ha.
I think we all assumed Luis was an IT guy, now we can confirm it.
