Red Dead Redemption Sells 5 Million, Max Payne 3 Delayed Again

It's time for "good news, bad news" with the stories coming from Rockstar Games today. First up is the good news. According to Rockstar, they have sold over 5 million units of Red Dead Redemption. This figure is only for the number of units sold to retailers, not for those purchased by the end consumer. Along the same train of thought, Grand Theft Auto IV has sold over 17 million units to date.

And now it's time for the bad news. It was revealed today that Max Payne 3, having already been delayed once, has been pushed back again. Originally slated for release during the Winter of 2009, the game was pushed until between August 1 and October 31, 2010. Max Payne 3 is now no longer slated to be released during this period, pushing the release out until nearer to 2011 or beyond. The company has not yet set a new time period for the game's release.

Re: Red Dead Redemption Sells 5 Million, Max Payne 3 Delayed Again

I'm not going to complain about Max Payne 3 being delayed further. The only feature that appealed to me based on the teaser screenshots provided were the mixed akimbo weaponry. Other than that, I could not see anything that resembled the overall theme of Max Payne (and I don't consider the cover system original anymore after Gears of War). Even the character looks closer to Matt Hazard than Max Payne, not that a constipated grimace from Sami Järvi is required to fulfill the theme mind you. I don't know if they're biding their time for demand, for resolving of technical issues, or for restarting the project properly, or a combination of the possibilities, but I do feel this is not a bad choice on their part. Just uh... Don't take ****ing forever and ruin what Remedy Entertainment started; I don't mind if Remedy doesn't do it since they're probably sick of it, just don't **** it up. I do wonder what choice of weather is left in terms of having the worst day of your life, since blizzards and rainstorms are already taken.
