Valve and Joss Whedon in Talks about Half-Life Film

This is news that is going to make you immediately say "Oh God, yes!" or "Oh God, no!" guaranteed. Joss Whedon (Firefly, Buffy, Dollhouse, the upcoming Avengers film, and more) says through his Facebook page that he is currently in talks with Valve to direct a Half-Life film. He put this "news" up on the 21st, so it is a bit dated by now but is the first we've heard about it.

Is it just me, or is the idea of making a film based off of a game series where the main protagonist is mute a really, really stupid idea? Maybe if the film is done through following Barney it could work but there really isn't any other way unless, oh no, they gave Gordon lines.

Believe me Gabe is not stupid to go thru with this, if it's a movie he wants then it'll be something that the rest of us will love, he will make sure that he has full control over the movie.

................ Or... Whedon could simply expand on the "Escape From City 17" film using a much higher budget, in which case Gordon can still be mute since he would be shown from the perspective of various vocal characters (who can range from scientists to resistance fighters). Just don't make Lombardi's nightmares come true, where Gordon faaaalls in looooooooove, even if it's with Alyx. Then again, Whedon's shows never seem to allow anybody to keep a stable relationship, so we got that going for us.

... Uh oh, I just realized Whedon's probably going to make Alyx the main character of the movie. Probably covering the parts where we couldn't see her in Half-Life 2...

if they do a Half-life they should do it about a group of people in the fight against city 17 and not focused around Gorden Freemen kind of like that one youtube video a few years back or w/e if they could make a compelling story that is in aroudn hte half-lfie area where we could see Gorden Freemen run across the screen and seeing the Doctors i think it would work but if there a main character as Gorden freemen then no.. not going to happen ill be pissed if that happens
