Raven Developing Black Ops Map Packs; Activision Registers Four New CoD Title Names

And the hits just keep on coming. First up, it was revealed that Raven is already developing maps for upcoming map pack releases for Call of Duty: Black Ops, the recently announced CoD title arriving later this year. As the game isn't even out yet, there have been no word on how much, if anything, these packs will cost, or when they will be released.

Next up, it seems as though Activision has been busy covering all of their Call of Duty bases this week. Four new game titles were registered in the series. While there's absolutely no guarantee that all or any of these will actually become real games, there are some rather interesting titles to note.

    Call of Duty: Future Warfare
    Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
    Call of Duty: Secret Warfare
    Call of Duty: Space Warfare

I think the real kicker in that group is the "Space Warfare" one. Folks, we couldn't make this up if we tried.

Well in the noticeable weakening of the franchise between MW1 and MW2, it seems Activision are keen to continue the downward spiral into irrelevance. I was looking forward to not buying Black Ops, and I'll be looking forward to not buying any of the other titles above either. My ire has nothing to do with the dedicated server debacle, just the general quality of MW2 was massively down compared to MW1. And with Infinity Ward being off the books, I doubt anyone else will make it shine...

Makes sense if you consider the following factors in mind:
      • Infinity Ward considered a war on aliens as an idea during pre-production of Modern Warfare 2 (obviously wouldn't be titled as such if this were to actually happen), which I assumed was an inspiration from War of the Worlds/Independence Day in order to see any reason behind this.
      • Activision probably wanted to reserve a possibility to compete in a market/genre that has a lack of competitors... What better way than to go up against a company specializing in benchmark software who recently went into game development? Yes, I am talking about being "inspired" by a certain Horizon.
      • They also want in on Ubisoft's success. For the same reason as above.
      • No idea on Secret Warfare, considering Activision has CoD: Black Ops and 007 (coincidently both from the same developers), leaving almost nothing left to use this title on.

Doesn't mean I won't vomit again from continuously seeing the oversaturation of the Call of Duty series overall though.

Maybe Space Warfare will feature Buzz Lightyear as the main character.

        TO INFINITY, AND BEYOND!

I can just see it now.

"Activision along with Walt Disney Pictures announces Call of Duty: Space Warfare, join in the fun as you play Buzz Lightyear on an epic adventure of space exploration and warfare. Who needs real guns when you have Buzz's high tech lasers and other gadgetry?!

Set to release on Dec. 21st 2012, mark your calenders folks, you don't wanna miss this one.

          TO INFINITY, AND BEYOND."

I think this even topped the other post. And wait, the real kicker will be that it is rated M, so none of the little kiddies can play , plus there won't be dedicated servers, nor any multiplayer at all :O! And the total cost of it will be $70 since the other titles will fail just as much.
