Second Modern Warfare 2 Map Pack Includes Two "Classic" Maps, Three New Ones

Yes, the second map pack for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will once again include just three new maps and two "classic" maps from the first Modern Warfare. Here are the listed maps for the "Resurgence" pack.

    Vacant (MW1 Map)
    Strike (MW1 Map)
    Trailer Park
    Carnival
    Fuel

The price? Yep, it will once again go for $15 (USD) and will be a timed exclusive on the Xbox 360 on June 3. PlayStation 3 and PC owners will have to wait until a date that has yet to be determined.

Besides the whole discussion about whether content like that is justified for such a price, I can't believe it is actually worthy of being a timed exclusive on a platform..

Sadly, regrettably, confusingly, frustratingly, irritatingly, and mysteriously, the customer base of Activision is compatible with this kind of release structure when it comes to downloadable content. With sales of $37.5 million and downloads of 2.5 million within 9 days (breaking previous Xbox Live sales) for the Stimulus Package, they can not only repeat this, but even increase the price and incentive for Xbox 360 players. Jesse Divnich, an analyst for Electronic Entertainment Design and Research, told IGN that the price point should have been higher considering "the accepted commercial success benchmark for DLC for a console game is 20% of the install base," according to him. In the end, even though this defies common sense, Activision is not being mean or greedy here; their customers are just compatible with them, so they can benefit from this no matter how you try to discourage this symbiotic relationship. I will agree with whoever thinks this is more of a parasitic relationship though. I mean, recycled maps with price tags? I understand retro-games, but recycled maps? Seriously?...
