16 years ago today, the Doom series was born. Relive a little slice of history and fire up your favorite Doom WAD and your source port of choice and go to town.

16 years later and the Doom series is still chugging along. Doom 4 was recently announced as being in the early stages of production but is not expected to be released for quite some time. Happy birthday, Doom!

I still remember the mall.wad. From the Beavis and Butthead sound effects, to the detailed electronics store, to the functioning movie theatre, to the kitchen in the back of the burger vendor in the food court revealing its quality ingredients. Oh those were good times. I even load up bots back when I had it, since nobody played this map online.

I miss doom, was such a fun game back in its day. Time to go dig it up again and play in on my Win 3.1 machine :O!

Man... I feel old now. 16 years ago? I remember Wolfenstein 3D coming out before this, when I was all of maybe 10 years old. Craziness.
