Happy Birthday Counter-Strike

Counter-Strike turns the big 1-0 today as the first public beta of the game we all know and love was released on this day 10 years ago.

Surprisingly (or not surprisingly), CS-Nation does not have a huge and fancy article that looks back over the years of Counter-Strike. We don't have a piece that discusses the highs and lows of the updates that have graced us over the years, and we don't have interviews with Jess Cliffe and Minh Le.

Counter-Strike, while not as hugely popular as it was in its heyday, is still one of the most played online games. Love it or hate it, Counter-Strike may very well be around for another ten years. Perhaps in that time we'll see the announcement and release of Counter-Strike 2. Maybe.

Jess Cliffe and Minh Le... Right, we haven't heard from them at all... I think I saw Cliffe's name in the credits for VALVe's current releases, but Le's... Did he quit a long time ago or something? Needless to say, that G36c rifle and the "shot in the back" death animation in 3DS Max is, and has been, useless for years now.

... I wonder if this news post was made in response to what BicyclMan said?...

Happy B-Day CS and Jess Cliffe, Minh Le on the 27th.

I think it's still the most played steam game today. In fact any game. -WOW, EVE and THE SIMS.

I played some CS yesterday.
It's still pretty good even for today's standards.

Cliffe works for valve I think, while gooseman just disappeared.

pfff unless they update CS we won't be playing it 10 years from now.... I haven't played it in over a year now. They need to get off thier lazy ass and make CS 2 already.
