Im assuming that if you buy the games via steam and you already own HL2 and HL2:E1 it will be cheaper.

Hmm I was about to add a rant about things like this in the "Open letter" post about the ads.



This is a good thing. But still won't quite get my off my boycott soap box just yet. I still can't justify supporting a company financially who thinks in-game ads are a good idea. I think people who think that way should be taken out back and beaten with a crowbar.



People like me, as in the vast majority of gamers, were the best advertising Valve could ever get. Only now, instead of telling people "hey you should check out this game it's awesome" I now say "don't buy their shit" every chance I get.



Product placement is fine, like the Dell's in cs_office. That stuff adds to the realism. Tacky, lazily implemented billboards that look so out of place in the environment...not so much.



@ Thortok I don't mind buying the game again, provided I can use it on another PC. Up until now I had to either choose, create a new account and not only have to switch between them all the time, but also lose my 4 digit id when playing the new ones. Of course I only have 1 spare pc that I would need for another account, so after TF2 I agree with you, I wouldn't want to buy it a 3rd time, unless I ended up getting a 3rd pc. But this is at least a step in the right direction.



Alas, as long as the ads stay in 1.6, which I don't even play anyway, my boycott stands firm. I don't care if they issue a gozillion press releases saying ads will never be in Source. It's the principle. And as a "leader" in game development it also sets a precedent, allowing other companies to think it's ok and get away with it. Gaming is what I do to escape the 24/7 bombardment of ads. I can't support a company who thinks like this, sorry.

connecting window = ok



Walls and scoreboard = absolutely not



I'd let them slide with the spectator menu since you're dead anyway, so if they set up a revenue share system with server operators and made these minor adjustments I'd go back to humping their legs and raving about their fantastic games. And I'd buy TF2. But there's still many other issues to get me off my 3rd party boycott.

I will not be giving Valve my money to play Episode 2 until and unless I can buy it without purchasing games I already own.

Is this the retail version, or does this apply to the Steam releases as well? No one knows, probably, but I'm asking anyway :)

Lets see, its going to take about a year for episode two, and the price is now the same price as any other PC game on the market.



Seriously, shut the fuck up Valve and just tell us that you are raping us in the ass, there is no need to lie about it.

You're basically getting three games for the price of one (ignoring the HL2 and Episode 1 parts). What's your problem? You can even resell the HL2 and Ep1 keys if you want and you will end up with something that is the same price as what you think a single game for an episode would probably cost.
