I played Episode 1, but did not pay for it, and use a friend's account to play CS:S.

but i thought we were paying for HL/HL2 mods from now on?

clearly this is an injustice on my freedom to empty my wallet to valve

Just look at everything. If it was free for HL1 chances are its gonna be 20 bucks for source... and another way you might dump money into is all these episodes with SiN, HL2 Ep1-whatev, and GMod. Although the money is going to the creator, a large portion is going to Valve HQ; Making money off of your mods and shit.

How many times does this need to be said:

Different groups work on different projects at Valve. Add in the fact that Turtlerock does MOST of the work for CSS, all of you guys are barking up the wrong tree.

That isn't VALVe's deal though. The mod author decided to make it a stand-alone version, so he himself could make money.

In the GMod example. Garry decided to make it standalone so he could make money off of it. VALVe didn't hold a gun to his head and forcefully buy GMod so they could make money....

I wonder if Valve has considered pitting PC players against Xbox 360 gamers over the Live Anywhere system for Team Fortress 2. That'd be cool.

No, it'd just be a slaughter fest, and alot of PC gamers shitting all over console gamers.

oh yeah, that would be pretty cool.

That's one statement that no one can give a decent argument against.
