    Steam News - July 14

Let's waste no time here and get right into the meat and potatoes of this week's news release!
As you might have noticed if you've been watching some of the gaming news sites, yesterday we announced a few new surprises about Half-Life 2: Episode Two. The first surprise is a new game called Portal which is best described by the video coming out next week. The second big surprise is that Team Fortress 2 will be included with Episode Two. Look for that video next week as well. And the final surprise is that all of these are coming out for PC, Xbox 360 and the PS3.

A big congratulations to Outerlight for releasing The Ship this week via Steam. The Ship is a unique multiplayer game built using Source, set on a series of luxury, art deco cruise ships and challenges you to kill or be killed. Once you're onboard you're given the name of another passenger whom you must find and secretly murder. It quite a bit different (and quite fun) than any other multiplayer game you have played or seen.
There is a more detailed synopsis of Team Fortress 2 and Episode 2 at Steampowered. And in case you missed the link in the news release, here's a local look at the unique (and freaking awesome looking) Team Fortress 2 crew.

    1. Spy looks very badass in his suit and tie.

    2. Medic looks like a regular ol' doctor that got yanked out of performing his latest Jack Kavorkian procedure with his HUGE NEEDLE.

    3. If only this game wasn't so far away.

I like the guy second from the right. I'm impressed, I think realistic graphics would have been cool, but I also think if they would have used realistic graphics they would have taken out rocket jumping and other essential gameplay elements like they did with 1.6 to source. I'm impressed because I have to admit the ship didn't look good with it's cartoony graphics. I guess it really just depends on how talented the artists/modelers are that are on the dev teams, because this looks nice.

edit: oh and I can't wait to play this, it may be more fun than DoD:S.

I'm a "real TFC player" and I think this looks amazing. TFC was probably the first game I ever played online and I played it a LOT. I probably played it for more hours than I've ever played CS games combined.

Episode Two advances the 16-million unit selling franchise, as Valve's trilogy of episodic single player releases continues the award-winning story of Half-Life 2. Armed with new weaponry and vehicles, Dr. Gordon Freeman must race through a countryside riddled with an increasingly fierce Combine threat.

                New Weapons? Oh hell yaw...

is it just me or does TF2 look like ToyStory, especially the engineer looks like something Pixar would make

Same here, I invested so much time into TFC (Back then I had dialup too). I seriously cant wait for Episode 2 and TF2. Both will be amazing and provide hours of fun.
