I only got to play CS:S for a bit under 2 hours since the update, so I can't really say for sure. Still, it sounded like the update was less adressing the position of the hitboxes relative to the lateral movement of the model, and more about fixing the hitboxes in relation to the animation of the model. Maybe I misread it, but that's what it sounded like.

I'm really interested in that video / Alfred's explanation. It doesn't seem like there should be any lag issues on a client server with bots, but perhaps the server is designed to always be running a bit behind the clients, even if it's on the local machine... not really sure. Either way, that video is quite shocking, I must admit. If there really is a bug in the demo playback, however, I'd like to see it get fixed, and then see if this is repeatable, or all fixed.

Doing about 45 mins with a bot on a listenserver with sv_cheats 1 and sv_showhitboxes 2 I came to the conclusion that the hitboxes being displayed are definitely not accurate for that moment in time.

That is to say, they visually lead the model by a considerable amount, but when aiming I only scored hits when shooting at the visible model, and not at the hitboxes. So, it appears now we have the case where sv_showhitboxes does not show where the actual hitboxes are for that moment in time, but rather where they will be in a moment.

This isn't nearly so good as formal testing with a friend and an aimbot to help out, but it certainly showed me a different scenario than I saw in that video. Hopefully the hitbox issues are at least significantly better than they were when that was recorded. As far as I could tell, though, shooting accurately at the model was generally resulting in hits, and I wasn't having to lead by any major amount.

Depends on who you play.. If you played me in CS 1.6, and -NiP- Heaton in CS:S, I kindof doubt you'd need more skill in 1.6.. LOL!

Point being, CS:S doesn't require less skill, it's just that the average skilllevel in CS:S is lower because it has more less skilled players.. CS 1.6 has a lot more skilled & experienced players simply because it's a much older game.. Things will even out over time..
