I think cs:s has a very and pronounced beta feel, there's bugs galore, the hunching models give me a pain to look at too, and the hit-detection.. don't get me started, reading these mails I wonder what game they are playing exactly, certainly not cs:s, perhaps they should check their shortcuts or something.

I am hopeful it will improve over time though, but to speak of this beta (and yes it is still beta dammit) as the second coming is ridiculous.

Here's my advise for those new to cs:s, buy a galil, close your eyes, press the mousebutton, strafe, open your eyes, see you won the round with 8 headshots.

And I agree asspennies isn't doing a good job, I know he can be much more sarcastic and amusing, he 'just doesn't apply himself' is my report :]

Who stands straight up while they hold/shoot/run? The hunching makes sense. CS:S runs great for some people, and not so well for others. Many people don't even realize there's a problem with hit detection (because.. they suck and wouldn't hit shots either way), or maybe there's a problem on the individual level.

Well xlokik, I have found two other reviews on the net. And in both of them the pe doesn't actually win until you go up to 1600 x 1200 res. I have no intention of playing at that res so for me the 6800GT is the way to go.

As for driver updates making such a big difference.. Yes I have seen huge performance boosts in the past from one driver update. Not to mention I have seen magazines like maximum pc do a follow up review just because of a driver update. "moron".. I think not.

It looks to me like there is no clear winner between the cards. I will purchase the card that gives the best price/performance ratio.

And with that post I will end this nonsense.

I don't know about hunching, but in every screenshot I've seen, the 'ragdoll' physics looks like 'ragdoll models' to me. I don't know what it is about them but they look like on their insides, they'd be filled with stuffing, not with muscles bones and sinew.

I mean, shooting a hostage in the mouth just makes a red spot. In some ways, the models are just...doll-like. I don't know how to explain it.

I have never seen a person run hunched like that, neither in real life nor movies/tv, WAIT, I forget the old classic 'hunchback of notre-dame'...

I guess I spoke too soon.

First things first.... #1 Shut your pie holes about what video card is better than the other. There almost equal. Who gives a shit.Cry about it all you want, there both good cards.#2 If you don't like sorce and you played the beta, WHY THE PHOCK DID YOU BUY IT!? #3 My opinion. The one that actually counts, and if you think other wise... your wrong.CS:Sorce is what we needed. Stop bitching. There will be thousands of patches, just like all the other versions. I am running Ge force 4 TI4200.256 mbs of DDR 2100.Yeah thats right 256. Windows XP Pro + the thousands of patches that seem to make it more unstable.AMD Athlon XP 2100+ (1.7Ghz).I get a SOLID, 70 FPS in 1024X768. With EVERYTHING on the highest settings. NO slow-down WHAT so ever. You retards need to learn how to config your Windows Patchy edition. So go Shoot yourselfs in the face.

Yea.. the player models have been shit from day one of source beta... I was really hoping they were placeholders or something, until the real models are released. But, it seems these are what we are stuck with.

I like how the mailbag has a printable B&W version, I can print them out and bundle them then my grandkids have a nice 18th birthday gift!

Well perhaps not my grandkids, but MikeJ's grandkids surely.

Well modelers can get XSI and go wild:

                      http://www.softimage.com/products/exp/h.../default2.asp

                      and http://articles.thewavelength.net/506/

So it's a matter of time until the first custom models show up (or hunch-fixed ones hopefully)

N.B.: 'All features and functionality of the commercial version of SOFTIMAGE|XSI are enabled without the hassle of licensing.'

So for hl2 models it's usable for free.

                        1) CS:S requires a kick-ass machine

                        2) Little 12 year olds dont have $$$ to buy one and I dont think they know what is cpu and video card.

                        3) Not every parent would buy his/her little kid a new PC especially for a game thats rated Mature.

                        4) They wont buy it throught Steam cause they dont have a credit card unless they steal one or buy it in a store. Stores usually WONT sell it because its rated M.

Well as you can see CS:S is the best game ever made, there is nothing better than CS, and I mean NOTHING!
You don't really need that kickass of a machine

they know what a cpu and a gfx card is

you'd be surprised at the parents. the mature rating means nothing to them.

my parents bought me worse shit than css when i was twelve

I agree on the hunchback part as far as the players' looks are concerned. I know they are holding the weapons more realistically and/or look more aggressive and action-like, but one of the things i was thrilled about in CS were the player animations. It also bothers me that the player heads are a bit egg-shaped (i mean other than normal people's heads). Other than that, CS:S is ******* marvelous, a true black pearl of the gaming world!!!
