I think Valve has another multiplayer project under their belt. Someone from Valve made the comment that CS:S was just going to be converted to the new engine and released. Now we all know Valve wouldn't release Half-Life 2 without mutlitplayer, so this means that if CS:S wasn't the originally planned multiplayer for HL2, then they have something else they haven't announced (or maybe just a failed mutlitplayer project?). Also in initial interviews Valve said that Half-Life 2 would have a multiplayer feature (and that's all they would say). This sounds dumb, but think about it. Counter-Strike isn't Half-Life. I want to believe that Valve has a fully-developed multiplayer option that is directly related to the game HL2 and not just a remake of a multiplayer mod.

        p.s. : I know it's sorta off-topic...oh well

They have said multiple times that TF2 will come after HL2. I wouldn't be surprised to see it available in a year or so.

If Valve had another multiplayer game for HL2 (besides CS:S), why wouldn't they say anything about it? It'd be in their best interest to talk about it, and get people excited. I'm pretty sure either Gabe or someone else said CS:S is the multiplayer for HL2 in the original E3 video.

I was against the idea of buying something over Steam because I wanted a hard copy. Since I'm only buying HL2 for CS:S and it comes out next week, it only took me 2 days to break down and decide that I'll be buying it over steam(Silver or Gold). Two questions I have:

                        1. Will I be able to burn an install disc or something? Like, it would be much easier to go with digital delivery if you were allowed to make your own hard copy.

                        2. How do I redownload the game? I'm guessing anyone can download HL2 via steam after buying HL2 in stores just by giving the cd key rather than putting the cd in.

Hopefully HL:S doesn't suck. I want to beat Half Life before I play HL2 but the original Half Life is far too boring compared to the current generation of games to play all the way through. Hopefully HL:S will have the spice to make it worth it, but it seems they'd have to do alot of mapping to make HL:S. I hope they did it.

I don't think they did any mapping.. just converted the engine. From the SS I saw of HL:S it looks very bad, only the water looks new, the rest looks horrible with the ancient geometry and textures. I plan on getting the regular box when it comes out, since HL:S looks stupid. I will miss out on DoD:S though.. hard choices!

Heh, so I guess I'm split between bronze and gold now~

I think I'll just get Bronze. DoD on avalanche with the kar in a pub is really, really fun because of how bad people are but I don't know. I'd have to play it on someone else's computer to see if it was worth getting first.

Please note that these dates are not currently confirmed by either Valve or VU Games, and may be subject to change. Even though this is the case, these release dates are the most solid dates we have seen thus far.

Of course... A sign that it wont be released...
