what makes you think there will be a discount on the retail price? cz cost the same over steam as it did retail, the only discount was for people who already owned cs.



as for not having to insert cds to play, there is no reason you would have to with the boxed version as you can simply register your cd key though steam and use that.

It will most likely have discount when you order the steam version because the game will be released over steam without the publisher. Valve does not have to pay Vivendi to mass produce the product and distribute it.



I mean't that if a game were to be distributed in steam there will be no cds to insert to play because you would download the content. I admit that the latter statement is flawed as i did not accurately reference it to what my overall point was.

I think its a mega dumb move.



a) Not everyone is going to buy it through Steam - so all your doing is wasting bandwith on people like me who just preload for the sake of it, who will then have there copy arrive from gameplay.com on the day of release (unless they release it earlier ;o)



b) It allows for hackers to open the GFC and probably get something working (no doubt with the old leak you could magic something up with the new files theyre sending out).



c) It puts me in a predicament. Now Im wondering if to cancel my gameplay preorder incase Steam unlocks it earlier. However I want a box and disk - so?!

u should wait til u get the box and disc... the cd-key that comes with can be input into steam if u wanna do it that way. sooner or later everyone will have it. but its the same damn game whether you get it a day or two after steam unlocks. either way you'll still be able to play.

im sure the release dates on those sites are guesstimates. i highly doubt valve will give a SOLID release date until it is finished.
