No... Pre-loading basically means when the game is ready to be released, you don't have to download much to play the game. In this case, you're downloading only some of the content (that won't change during its remaining development cycle). And for some of you, please read the newspost as your questions have already been answered.

what makes you think there will be a discount on the retail price? cz cost the same over steam as it did retail, the only discount was for people who already owned cs.



as for not having to insert cds to play, there is no reason you would have to with the boxed version as you can simply register your cd key though steam and use that.
