I don't really see the point of (buying) games online, it takes a long time and you don't have a room full of boxes
The main advantage with buying hl2 on steam is that you get hl2 as soon as its released in stores. There won't be any need to run to your local software retailer to check for the game which might not even be in stock.

i think that is really the only advantage.
There are alot of advantages with purchasing with steam such as a discount on the retail prices and not having to insert cds to play. I will buy hl2 retail though, I have a slow connection and i like to collect games and put them on cd-racks.didn't they say a while ago that it would be released on steam before in stores?
