It's based on the half-life 2 engine, so you are basically trying to say that valve have made no optimizations as yet to the source code ? It only runs on high end machines ?...........
Because those were on High end computers that they knew it worked on. Plus, they just load it to a hard drive, its not a mass release.

So, bad business isn't lieing to the public about release dates or TF2, or being hacked, or half ass programing?(steam, how fu*king hard is it to get visual basic type shit to work right?! I MEAN FU*CKING GOD! Friends List is a joke!), or patches to fix patches that were intended to fix the first 3 patches?. Either way I'm buying HL2
Bad Business? Its a beta, they didn't even have to do it in the first place.
They chose to involve the community, you don't have to purchase CZ or go to a cyber cafe, they are just offering it. That alone should be enough to satisfy you.
I don't mind the delay. I wonder how they're deleting it off your HDD? Timed? Networked command? Yard knombs!?Comment

That release date was never official, it was only an estimate on when it would be completed and, just in case you weren't sure of it, they did get hacked.

Also, I don't know your basis for the half ass programming, I doubt you've seen the coding involved in creating steam, and I don't see how releasing multiple patches is a negative thing.Comment

No, what I'm saying is, it's not quite ready to come out to older hardware. Or maybe netcode. Actually, netcode would make sense. So far it's only been played on LAN.

That is quite possible, but aren't they using netcode identical to that of the Half-Life 1 engine?

I wouldn't see a reason to cease using this netcode unless it is somehow incompatible with the new graphics/physics module.Comment

Wait, maybe with the delay do you think they're trying to get more CZ owners? Is it another marketing strat*hoping i'm using that in the right context*because there arent that many CZ owners(ok, maybe not as much as they wanted). With this plan in hand, do you think Valve is getting greedy for more money?
----Edit----
Look at this, I think I'm partly right,or there might actually be an unfinished product See if you look at the CZ players and the CS do you think I'm partly right. If they can get a few more thousand more CS players to buy CZ and test the beta....it would make most them want CS:S and therefore they would most likely buy HL2 to get CS:S or spread the word. $50,000 players is better that $10,000 right? And if your not intrested in CS:S, CS:S might be the closet thing you'd prolly come to testing the source engine and see if it will run on your computer. AM I RIGHT OR WHAT!?Comment

I know shit about all the technical stuff.. but would this be in any relevance to the netcode issue?
