Funny how no one stopped to think that maybe Valve just realized that CPL is happening around the 28th and since they aren't very close buds with the gang over there and the fact that the network traversal traffic on Steam alone during that period would be pretty bloated...

Come on now people. It's a few more days. You probably all have a job and a life; hopefully someone to have sex with... half this community needs to get laid.

Doom 3 comes out W1, August 2004. CS:S and HL2 are the most anticipated games ever. Period. From a marketing standpoint, this is actually a smart ass move. It takes the "steam" right out from underneath Doom 3... pun intended.

    ./Runs a business. Applauding Valve.

But seriously folks, CPL is probably a larger reason and I wouldn't fret too much over a week+ "alteration" of their original plans. I could go on and on, but my girlfriend just stepped in. *Quagmire* Alright!

                  It's true tho.

Most posts that mock Valve have at least one spelling error in it.

Usually caused by trying to be big and cool.

I can't wait to see how the hitboxes are. I doubt they're per polygon like Doom 3 or else they'd be touting that. But then again, I wonder how Doom 3's per poly hit detection works online.
Doom3 isn't made to be an online game. It only has 4 player multiplayer.

Actually its scalable - but 4 by default.

I suggest you go read Gamespys interview with its network coder.

Starting later this summer, Valve will be conducting a limited-time beta of Counter-Strike: Source via Steam. The beta will first be open to subscribers of the Valve Cyber Café Program, and then extended to owners of Counter-Strike: Condition Zero.

                        ...

guess why they let ppl preload it 5 days before, and u know that steam dont need internet to play anymore?

It's only changeable from 4 players if you create a modification.

"Close to the 28th of July"

Yep. That's what it said. I just checked my calendar to be sure after reading some of these posts...and yep....August 5th is STILL close to the 28th.

I'm used to all GOOD game companies delaying releases to make sure it's right. When the marketing and shipping departments dictate when a game is ready rather than the Tech department, you get games that are in the bargain bin at Wal-mart after 2 weeks of it's release.

Such will not be the case for either HL2 or Doom3 I believe.

And you all can call me a "Valve Fan-Boy" if it pleases you but I was playing their last release (CZ) just last night. Enjoyed it again too.

I expect to do the same when Source makes it to my computer.

Patience is a virtue. Maybe some of you DO need a girlfriend....

Do you think we'll be able to put some of our own bsps in there?

Or even use the leaked worldcraft to get a few other maps out?
