    What's wrong with them?
They are a few seconds slower than CS 1.6 crosshairs.

rgr. we need a jeepathon2k4 for sure.

and yeah, the graphics are much better such as the shiny floor, etc. the walls seem to be better bumpmapped as well maybe?

the only problem I see is that I can't figure out how to turn off auto help.... i keep unchecking it and nothing happens, just shows up as checked next time I open up the options.

Ah yes, I completely forgot about that.

I'm going to try changing it directly through my config.cfg.

                setinfo "ah" 0

                setinfo "_ah" 0

one of those in your config.

if it keeps resetting itself, put it to 0 in your config, and make your config.cfg read only (right click, properties and select Read Only).

Once you start putting other maps into the equation, it'll take longer to beta test as there will be less scope pertaining to actually beta testing, and more attention made by the players as treating it like a game that has been released and actually just playing it rather than testing it.
Well isn't that the epitome of Beta Testing a game? To try to get the game as finely tuned as possible before an actual public release of the final product? -- I mean I would rather see them play more maps with various environments, actions, and interactions. How can you base all beta results on 1 map? --

For example Dust has no water, how do you know if they opened up Aztec to the public that they might find that the water on Aztec might mess with a majority of the communities settings/hardware/software..ect..

That is only an example of the pro's of allowing more maps to come into the public playing field.

                    Is there a static crosshair?

I don't know if I could play Counter-Strike with a 'Rainbow 6' crosshair [dynamic], that would suck.

                      *lol*

Sorry, but that's just not possible. Water behaves exactly the same as in original HL; the only difference is that it reflects and refracts realistically with pixel shaders.

It's true that more maps would let them test a few more aspects of the game/engine, but obviously Valve decided that it wouldn't be worthwhile, and we can hardly fault them for that.

I just realized that the nice, newer map graphics we're enjoying are likely due to the fact that they reset our video settings to "high."

Um... Am I the only one that doesn't like the new shiny textures for the arms/hands? Or am I the only one getting them lol.

I just want to know why there's an "*" next to the 'high' video settings.

Seems like a good update though there's some glitchyness. The most noticeable problem for me is the straw basket you see on the carriage around the CT spawn area-- it looks like they use levels of detail on the models, the shift from the low to high poly model when you approach it is very evident.

The hands seem better but are they using the same hand skin on all the weapons? i'm not sure. Also, the silenced USP feels glitchy.

That probably means it's the default, according to your system.
