Yeah, I have the feeling that CZ wasn't worth pre-ordering, but my $20 Amazon.com purchase of CZ has made me quite happy, and keeps on giving!



Please don't buy CZ if you suck (as a person, not at CS) though, because at the moment I'm enjoying the slightly more mature community that CZ online seems to have (at least in my very limited experience).



Now I just have to pray this stupid RMA on this defective RAM goes through, and I can get my new system up and running before I'm needing beefier hardware...



On a side note, it looks like DoD got updated to 1.3 last night, or so my steam monitor was claiming, along with some minor update to the HL engine.

I agree with you on that point. There seems to be a slightly higher level of maturity on most CZ servers I've been to. I noticed on the steampowered.com forums that not everybody agrees on this point, though.

dont buy CZ now.. you will just give in to valve's temptations of small little perks to make up for their big mistake.. when HL2 comes out, you will have the full version of CS:S if they keep their word



also, if they keep their release date, then this whole BETA gimmick will only last a 2 months.

Wow, you mean a computer product has become cheaper as time passed from its release? Somebody call the press, this is an amazing precedent? I never saw this coming in a million years!

I've seen it posted by a bunch of people here and said by many friends of mine that they think the overall maturity level is higher in CZ servers than 1.6 ones. I've had the exact opposite experience (and I mostly just play CZ now instead of 1.6 unless I want to play custom maps). The maturity of most of the players seems to be about the same, but the admins are pretty much horrible across the board. I got slowhacked for knifing a ridiculously childish camping admin (easily fixed, but still a nuisance), I get booted for "hacking" all the time, and there are a bunch of public clan servers where the clan members will slay me for killing them or use AMX commands to give themselves free weapons or multiple primaries at once. I know that I can just leave such servers if I don't like it, but I get tired of kiddie admin abuse. These servers would otherwise be great as far as map rotation, level of competition, and fun factor goes. I pretty much have to change my name constantly these days (luckily, stupid kids don't bother to look at anyone's Steam ID) to avoid being banned. Sigh. Rant over. I'm looking forward to the update, but I hope they're including a fix for the shield glitch that allows you to have a primary and a shield at once.

Actually, all the CZ servers i played in had good ppl in it and knew what the hell they were doing.
