The main challenge for making this new CS look good, isn't the map or graphic quality, but the models. These are early shots of the CS models, so don't expect them to be perfect.

Since its so close to release the models won't change at all, though valve might make a patch or will have to rely on customizers to improve the graphics.

In regard to all the people complaining about people complaining about the less-funderful-than-expected graphics...
When they give you pictures, the only thing you can judge is the quality of what the picture contains. It's impossible to comment on the gameplay or anything interactive when the pictures don't really show anything of that nature. We're complaining because we care and to voice our opinion in the hope that they will listen and correct. Yes the game isn't released and they're still working on it, but if we appear satisfied, what incentive do Valve have to keep working at it?
And that deagle does look really bland.Comment

I'm pretty sure CS:S is close to release, otherwise, why would they be releasing all this stuff...?
Or am I being way too optimistic...?
Another thing I just thought of.. will CS:S allow for the easy customization of weapon/player skins/models like what we have now...? Replace p_ak47.mdl with the new custom one, etc etc etc. and have the original defaults cached like what we have for 1.6? Cause the more I look at that Deagle model, the more I realize we've got some great modelers and skinners in the CS community... who the hell is Valve hiring...?!Comment

Well, Cliffe has stated that there will be support for custom content; i.e. skins, wads, etc, but he has not yet stated how that system would work.

Why is everyone expecting CS:Source to be Counter-Strike 2? CS:S is just a Source engine port of the current Counter-Strike, and they just threw in some new stuff like physics and new shadows. It is just a port, and everyone expects it to be better than Half-Life 2 itself.
Just remember, this is the old CS with a minor facelift, and not a completely new game built from the ground up.Comment
