great stuff... things like the muzzle flare removing shadow. im not saying it is, but it could be that thats one the of the last frames in the animation and the lighting effect wasnt there anymore. besides, so wat? when you are playing its not going to kill you. wats important is gameplay, thats why cs has lasted as long as it has, and thats why over 10 million people will buy hl2

fyi: hand models are good, they are the same as the leaked hl2 cs ported hands which are nice, close, but nice.

EDIT: oh and its certainly possible that valve realized that many CS players don't have state of the art computers and they tried to tone down some of the fancy stuff HL2 can do for CS:S so that you people dont have to shell out 5 grand to get steady fps.

ok people, in case u forgot. CS was created by a bunch of kids our age(mostly) and it was made the way that THEY wanted to play it. as far as i know, they are still incharge of CS. personally, I'd be happy with CS 1.0 graphics with SORCE physics. if how the a brick looks in the backround determins how a game will sell and be played...then go play myst. ok so the pictures so far arn't HL2..guess what...its not HL2 its CS, a completly different game it just so happens to use the same engine. so...shut the hell up and be happy that valve even decided to make another CS game so close after CS:CZ was made.

          It look pretty good overall...

Maps like incredible. I mean, wow. And I thought CS looked realistic the first time I played it back in 2000. The maps just make my jaw drop now.

The player and weapon models... only seem to be a slight improvement. Hell, they look damn shoddy compared to some of the stuff we can download for free at CSN's SotD or the Clan of the Dead Goat's Gunshop. You can tell the potential is there, but they seriously need to work on the models.

If the hitboxes register bullets correctly though, and it has everything the Source engine has promised, CS may be very fun again. (As long as there's no cheaters.)

although I do kind of wonder why - excluding E3 - the only people to put out new CS:S info was a german and korean site. Last time I checked VALVe was located in the US, and the majority (im guessing) of CS players live in the US.

I don't care who gets the media. As long as somebody gets it, I'm happy.

no one gets what i mean? when hes shootin the gun, the light of the muzzle flash should at least tone down the shadow if not remove it completely
Actually adding a new light source would create a new shadow at a different angle thus having 2 shadows, while they would overlap eachother it would:

                    A) Make the shadow more intense, or

                    B) Cast a new shadow via the angle the gun is, in relation with the body.

I demand a screen cap of every weapon to judge how well they're doing everything with the weapons! :) pweafe?

You have to admit, the muzzle flashes are more instense than any real muzzle flash.

I think it looks great. It may not be HL2 quality of graphics but if it was everyone would be complaining that they cant run it. Most of the ppl i play with still have pentium 2's or 3's and geforce 2 cards. Now they may have to upgrade a bit but at least they wont have to spend thousands of dollars doing it. VALVe is trying to find the right balance for us the gamers. (I also noticed they are still kepping the lower poly peewees judging by ss2 )

I agree to the fullest extent, but you have to also aggree some of, most games are made to attract the eye rather then true realism which could possibly be quite boring.

Its all in principle, if you aren't going to be up close (as in your eye is right behind it, first person view) so it would be rather frivolous to draw a several thousand poly model when you won't see the detail.
