i'm really looking forward to testing the new hostage AI, but i'm with all the CS1.6 fans in that i wish the CZ updates would actually be given to CS1.6 users as well. updated AI, updated hostages, updated maps, etc. -- CZ, even with all the updates, is really not worth the money since the gameplay is EXACTLY the same as CS1.6 with no new weapons/nades/features to make it any better. bots = pointless and only necessary for single-player mode, however the improved hostages will hopefully be a good improvement. i'm looking forward to being able to rescue the hosties thru the sewer on militia finally!! -- but definately not something that constitutes trying to get all my friends to spend $40 to buy the same game that they already own.



there are 1000's of custom maps out there, a handful of which are better than any of the new CZ maps, which means there's no real reason to upgrade just to get new hosties and new (custom) CZ maps...



i just pray that HL2 / CS-Source / etc has less lag/loss/choke issues than the current set-up...with maybe some auto-adjustments to variables that are done automatically to optimize the connection, without the need for the user to fumble around themselves trying to fix everything that should 'just work'.

true. if they want CS2 and all the new games, you may as well wait til the games down to 20-30 bucks then buy it; the moneys going to support more updates/new games. im guessing the price will be dropping soon anyways.

No, the maps were not all done by Ritual, especially not de_vostok... since it was done by me. I've built and textured it in my time as a contractor for Gearbox back in 2001 and was more than surprised to find it in the Xbox version of CS years later.



Credit where it's due, Valve mentioned my name on the box, but now they're once again taking my map to push CZ and I doubt that my name will be mentioned this time. I don't want to sound bitter, but it would've been nice to be at least directly contacted about the release... nothing.



Oh well, all I can hope now is that people will at least enjoy my map (which BTW has been stripped off essential parts in its layout), AFAIK it has already been ripped off and released under the name de_vostok by some wannabe community asshat a couple of weeks ago, so some people might already know it.

wow... I love the way your map, de_dahab (assuming it's a bomb/defuse map), looks like...

I think I remember seeing it on a Gearbox version of CZ's trailer. Was it on this map where the black hawk helicopter's crash scene was taking place (in the trailer)? simply sweet. I hope Valve releases this map as well.

Most of these people who are bitching about CZ sucking, have never played it. The problem is, they don't have the 29 dollars to go buy it. Pathetic!

I must admit I didn't want to buy it for a long time. I thought it should have been 1.7. But not only have I bought it, but our server is now CZ. Its well worth the money. It is a much improved Counterstrike. I can't wait for 1.2

I think its ridiculous that this guy can give an interview and say that there was a "vocal MINORITY" giving negative feed back about the recent awp "fix". If any of you visit the Steam Powered forums you'd know he's clearly lying through his teeth like any other salesman would do. The fact that he can come to this interview and say that there was an actual problem or "exploit" with awp quickswitching is ridiculous, it took the same ammount of time to quickswitch and rescope as it does to let the gun rebolt without switching from pistol back to awp, but now we have to wait twice as long to rescope, or let the gun rebolt normally and risk being shot while standing there like some novice would. Its obvious that the awp was changed so that less experienced players wouldnt be OWNED by people who have taken time to perfect their awping skills, skills they must now re-learn. Total bs.

I have a quick question about CZ. In 1.6, on aztec, out at the DDs from T side (looking out above the water) my fps drops like a mofo.



System:

AMD XP 3200+ @ Stock 2.3ghz

Radeon 9600 Pro (Omega 4.5 Drivers)

1gig ddr ram



Does CZ have these same problems? I mean, I go and play Red Orchestra on UT 2k4, with my graphics settings through the roof, and the only time my fps drops is major gunfights with alot of smoke, and that looks 1 million times better than stock 1.6



So wtf? Are these problems fixed?



I just hope HL2/CS:S run as well as UT 2k4 and mods do.



Meh, even with the new hosties I won't buy CZ cuz really, who plays cs_ maps? Leagues like CAL only run de_ maps, and even on pub, most good servers only run de_ maps because the clans running them only play de_ maps...



Ah well, until they add something really revolutionary for the gameplay I guess most of us will just stick with free 1.6



Personally I've been playing since Beta 5.2, and I havn't had to pay a cent for CS yet, I don't plan to start now for some updated hosties and single player CS.
