Overall, it's an okay patch.
The headshot graphic with the idea that now you know what gun was used is excellent...but the graphic itself with the hole in the skull is...ugly...and big...
The new radar serves its purpose excellently but looks like a cartoon or something. Could we get it out of 8 bit color and remove the black line around it or something?
I like the rounded score sheets and stuff, nice small change.
The crosshairs are freakin' huge now, though. I love the sniper crosshairs, but the normal ones are insane. The #1 reason I increased my resolution (in spite of slightly better texture quality and such) was to lower the size of my crosshairs. Now they're just as huge as if I was playing 640x480.
I agree with consistency...make it consistently SMALL, so when I lower my resolution, I still get smaller crosshairs.
I could probably learn to live with this crosshair thing, but it's thrown me out of the 'feel' of things. That and the kiddy radar look makes me feel like they're really appealing to the average age of 12-13, even if the game is rated M.
As far as the awp quick switch, it's only a problem with the awp and not with autosnipers. I feel it's welcome, as having an awp MEANS you run slower and have scoped vision. Stop switching to your pistol so much and use the awp how it's meant to be used.
What little awping skills I have (it really isn't my gun of choice) will have to be re-tuned to the new change. I'm used to the switching, every awper is, you essentially have to switch in order to be as effective as other awpers. But I welcome the fix.
As for CS being purely a CQB game....then why does everyone get 'rifles'? M4, AK, and AWP. Because most of the other guns don't have long enough range capacity. The game has plenty of long range, it just doesn't seem like it because everyone gets the long-range guns.
Also, the huge crosshairs is going to make it pretty difficult to aim long-range.Comment

It pisses me off to hear that people think the awp change was a "fix". THERE WAS NO EXPLOIT TO BEGIN WITH! DON'T FIX IT IF IT AIN'T BROKEN!!!!! Shooting from the awp, switching to a pistol and back to awp (before the update) and then shooting again would save NO TIME AT ALL. NOW, however, there's like a 2 second delay and it just fucked up the awp big time. I don't want to hear any more bitching about the "exploit" in the awp, because there was no exploit in the first place. Goddamn ignorant fags.
I've been playing since the days when the p90 ruled the earth - I don't need to hear your self-righteous drivel about being a pro player blah blah blah. Pro players in real* clans account for a small percentage of the CS world, hell most pub players don't even know a CS community exists outside of the game.
Frankly, someone that has a higher accuracy using other weapons like the colt, ak, mp5, p90, pistols, etc... impresses me much more than some lame ass that decides to awp rush with his trusty railgun and use a quickswitch expolit to get easy kills. That's what this patch eliminates - the exploit, not the skill. This change will for people with sniper rifles to use sniper tactics instead of just running around.
I seriously doubt this patch will be rolled back, and honestly I hope it doesn't. Have you ever fired an AWM? I have. Do they reload quickly. No. They are designed to be a one-shot one-kill weapon, from a great distance, and almost always fired from prone. Not some n00b's rush gun.
I don't doubt that you have skills, but when a 2 week old newb buys his first awp - he has almost as much skill as anyone else. Besides - your skill most likely from time spent in-game, being able to predict certain things on certain maps - that's where alot of my skills come from - experience. I have no doubt that you can play well with any gun.
Quickswitch is handy, but it should not be exploited as it has been. Adapt.

Douche - I don't have time to play in a league or be in a clan. I work for a living, I don't play games. Something which you should attempt, unless you're happy living in mom and dad's basement. It's a game - and many of us treat it as such, and continue to play regardless of game changes. Money for Valve is what drives this community, not leagues. You think Valve would continue to support, or even create new games if it wasn't profitable?
I am well aware that CPL doesn't allow custom sprites or models, but I am also aware that they help make the game more FUN for me. Therefor - I couldn't give a shit less what the "leagues" do.Comment

As far as the awp delay, I think it is fixed. You might not save time between shots, but you used to be able to increase your strafing speed and field of vision for those moments as opposed to someone who just keeps the awp in their hands.
To me, that's still an exploit, even if you don't get to shoot faster.Comment
